Essentials Inside The Story
- The promotion of Joe Brady as the HC is seen as a direct result of the franchise hiring someone familiar with the organization and star quarterback, Josh Allen
- Allen has been vocal about his bond with Brady, adding that he loves him like a brother
- Despite his experience, the Bills mafia is reportedly unhappy with Brady's hiring as the new HC
The Buffalo Bills have made their choice by appointing Joe Brady as the team’s newest and youngest HC in the league. In doing so, they’ve put all their chips on Josh Allen. The QB got his man and now has nowhere left to hide. The Buffalo Bills recently shared a picture of the newly appointed HC on social media, and it’s safe to say that the update is drawing a lot of attention already.

“Shorts weather,” posted the Buffalo Bills on X.
The picture highlighted Brady running in a black t-shirt and black shorts on a chilly winter night at Orchard Park. The ground was covered with snow, and the temperature was 12 degrees.

Before the team appointed Joe Brady as their next HC, the Buffalo Bills president, Terry Pegula, revealed that quarterback Josh Allen will play a major role in hiring the next head coach, following McDermott’s firing.
“The starting quarterback will be part of the team to help select a new coach,” said Pegula. “He’s going to be working with us.”

The Bills hired McDermott in 2017, and the following year, he drafted Allen, and with that began the McDermott-Allen era in Buffalo. After his hiring, McDermott ended the 17-year playoff drought, subsequently making it to the playoffs eight times in nine years. However, the duo never managed to secure a Super Bowl berth.
As the new Brady era loads in Buffalo, the pressure on Allen is now more than ever. He played a big part in Brady’s selection and has been working under him since 2022. For the first two seasons, Brady was the quarterback’s coach before he was promoted to offensive coordinator.

“Love him like a brother,” said Allen after he offered a vote of confidence to Brady following the loss to the Miami Dolphins in Week 10. “He’s been awesome for my career.”
Likewise, Allen also won his first NFL MVP in 2024 under his tutelage, while he was a finalist for the AP Assistant Coach of the Year.
Now that the Pro Bowler prepares to start under Brady as the HC, he has no excuses but to win that Lombardi Trophy. The quarterback has given his vote to the new HC, but the Bills Mafia isn’t on board.

Bills fans don’t seem happy with Joe Brady’s hiring as the HC
The Bills’ latest update on X, the picture of Brady jogging on the snow, didn’t sit well with fans. The Bills mafia did not let the opportunity pass and expressed their opinions on the newly appointed head coach.
“It is warm today,” wrote a fan. The fan seemingly called out the new HC’s outfit choice with a pinch of sarcasm, highlighting how the weather didn’t call for shorts.

The hilarious takes on the picture kept coming, as another fan added, “Admin seems manic this morning,” under the post. Similarly, one more fan wrote, “Just because he’s dumb doesn’t make him cool.”

The Bills’ mafia has certainly disliked the front office’s decision to promote Joe Brady as a replacement for Sean McDermott. Now, only time will tell what Brady’s next steps will be as he tries to help the Bills secure a playoff berth.
With it being Brady’s first day, the fans were not convinced that he knew the seriousness of the situation. “This is so unserious,” said a fan.

However, the team’s stats under Brady’s guidance show a completely different reality. One that highlights how serious he is about the Buffalo Bills’ future.
Under Brady, the Bills’ offense ranked one of the best in the league. Since taking over as the team’s offensive coordinator, the franchise averaged 29.6 points per game (2nd), 367.7 total yards per game (3rd), and 145.4 rushing yards per game (3rd). That is not all. Since 2024, the Bills rank 1st in EPA/play, 2nd in success rate, 2nd in EPA/dropback, and 1st in EPA/rush.
While the metrics favor Brady, the fans are still not convinced of the decision. Ultimately, it all comes down to winning the Super Bowl. Unless he achieves the ultimate prize, they probably won’t stop walking this path.
