You could make a strong case that tonight’s Kansas City Chiefs– Jacksonville Jaguars matchup was the most anticipated game of Week 5. Jacksonville came in riding high after knocking off the 49ers, while Kansas City finally seemed to have rediscovered its rhythm after that shaky 0–2 start. Back-to-back wins over the New York Giants and the Baltimore Ravens had them trending upward again. EverBank Stadium was electric from the jump. And before kickoff, the stage was set for a little something extra: an R&B twist on the National Anthem.

Enter CitiLimitz, a fresh-faced R&B and soul trio from Chattanooga, Tennessee, who delivered a rendition that definitely got people talking. So, who exactly are these guys who had everyone pulling out their phones mid-anthem?

CitiLimitz is made up of three brothers: 18-year-old Deshundre (a.k.a. Dre) and 17-year-old twins Amari (A.T.) and Amarion (Marion). They’ve been harmonizing together since they were little. Their grandfather’s a pastor, so it all began in the church.

They actually started turning heads years ago, first appearing on The Ellen Show in 2019 as a trio of pint-sized powerhouse vocalists. Fast forward a few years, and they caught the attention of Kevin Wales, the CEO of Sound of Young America, who helped them land a deal with Republic Records/UMG. Their debut single, “Say No More,” put them on the map, and in 2025, they even made it to Season 20 of America’s Got Talent. But well, not everyone was enjoying the anthem performance. Let’s just say the reaction online was… mixed, to put it mildly.

As with any unique musical choice, some fans were all for it, while others acted like they had seen the worst performance ever. “Wtf is this national anthem 💀💀,” one fan posted. Another chimed in, “Why are we doing the national anthem and stuff for a random MNF game?”

Well, they’re probably nervous about they’re teams playing and just want to get on with the game. Or, R&B clearly isn’t their thing. “@MNF, why do you have to f—- up the National Anthem,” another wrote.

“Who are these guys singing this National Anthem on the Monday Night Football game?” another wrote. Whether this was a disaster or not, surely a lot more people will know about these guys after tonight. In the music business, negative publicity isn’t always bad.

And for those who are into that R&B and soul blend, this was more than a good performance. “What a GREAT national anthem man!!Makes me miss male R&B groups like Dru Hill, Boys 2 Men & Jagged Edge!!” one fan wrote. “I applaud the Jags for actually having good singers sing the anthem. ✊🏿,” another said.
