Brittany Mahomes has seen it all. From the highs of Patrick going to Texas, getting drafted by the Chiefs, and winning a Super Bowl, to the lows of nursing tough seasons and injuries. But even over a decade of being with the star QB couldn’t prepare her nerves for what she was about to witness last Sunday.

The Indianapolis Colts visited Arrowhead Stadium for the Week 2 clash against the Kansas City Chiefs. And as happens for most home games, Brittany Mahomes was in the stands, cheering her husband. But what she witnessed in the final game of Sunday Night Football led to Brittany publicly apologizing afterward.

“Sorry you had to hear me scream and say a lot of bad words for several hours,” her story caption read.

Now, Brittany has seen this before, but the nerves are a part of watching Patrick play, as the former QB has admitted once before when he said, “She’s always on edge before kickoff.”

And that usually happens during big moments, as Brittany shared last year while talking about her Whoop band. While her stress level monitor usually shows a 5%, during last year’s Super Bowl, it jumped up to 14%!

“Yes, I did 100% feel that. Three kids to a Super Bowl makes it even more stressful. Yeah, it just is what it is. There’s no getting around that for sure.”

But over time, Brittany has found a way of dealing with it, as Taylor Swift will attest. During the 2024 season, Brittany became a constant figure of support for Swift.

“Oh my God. You kept me so calm the last couple of weeks,” Swift explained at the time. She later told her now mother-in-law, Donna Kelce, “I did not know what to do. And I’d just text Brittany and be like, ‘tell me it’s going to be okay.’”

We can see the nervousness in Brittany. After all, as an athlete and the owner of an NWSL team, she knows what it’s like to compete. Moreover, she’s played a huge role in helping Mahomes succeed, as the QB has clearly explained on the Impaulsive podcast.

“I think people don’t even realize how much she does,” he said on the “Impaulsive” podcast in May. “I mean, taking care of the day-to-day stuff and make it where I can focus on football and focus on my craft and everything like that. [She’s] a Hall of Fame mom and a Hall of Fame wife, [which] makes it a lot easier. I mean, when you get to come home and your best friend’s there and you can just hang out, it makes you want to be there all the time and she pushes me to be great and she’s done a lot of great things herself.”

This season, that included Brittan aiding Mahomes’ rehab in time for the season after an ACL injury ended his season early. That’s when the Chiefs excelled; she showed plenty of emotion.

Plus, she wasn’t the only one. Newlywed Travis Kelce’s wife, Taylor Swift, was also in attendance. She was visibly excited, pointing towards her wedding ring when Kelce scored the first touchdown of the game in the first quarter.

The game itself was a wild back-and-forth. The Colts struck first on a 1-yard touchdown pass from Daniel Jones to Tyler Warren, and Patrick Mahomes answered with TD throws to Travis Kelce, Xavier Worthy, and Jalen Royals. Jonathan Taylor kept the Colts in it with two rushing touchdowns, the second a 5-yard run late in the fourth quarter that tied the game at 27-27 and sent it to overtime.

Kansas City outgained the Colts 523 yards to 329 and didn’t turn the ball over, but the Colts hung around all night. In overtime, Harrison Butker kicked a 31-yard field goal, Spencer Shrader matched it from 38 yards, and Butker won it with a 40-yarder to seal the 33-30 win for the Chiefs.

After going through a rigorous rehabilitation program, Mahomes looked all right last week with 184 yards and two touchdowns. Yesterday, though, he looked closer to the player he has always been. On the night, he completed 32 of 47 passes for 382 yards and three touchdowns.

“Want to give all glory and thanks to God! Letting me be out there doing what I love again,” Mahomes wrote in a post on X after their Week 1 victory over the Broncos. “Chiefs Kingdom, this is just the start see y’all next week!

Brittany kept the celebration going on Instagram, where she shared another story highlighting her husband’s place in NFL history. According to the post, Mahomes has more wins than any other quarterback through his first 10 seasons, playoffs included.

After the Week 2 win, Mahomes is looking to continue the streak to boost their chances for the Vince Lombardi Trophy yet again, with his wife on the sidelines supporting him.
