Role in the Sherrone Moore / Paige Shiver Case

Joe Simon is the defense attorney for Sherrone Moore, who’s been trying to defend Moore not guilty. He will be advocating against Prosecutor Kati Rezmierski, one of the top women attorneys in Michigan. Magistrate Odetalla M. Odetalla will be hearing the case, presented by both attorneys, representing their client. Moore’s attorney on the Dec. 12 hearing didn’t have much to say, except that learning the facts being presented by Prosecutor Kati Rezmierski.

What Joseph Simon Has Said Publicly?

Sherrone Moore, on Friday, appeared in an all-white jail outfit through the video call for the hearing, answering the questions raised. Paige Shiver’s advocate stated that Moore barged his way into her apartment and pulled out several butter knives and a pair of kitchen scissors to threaten his own life, terrorizing her. Shiver’s attorney added that he left after she told him she was calling her attorney.

Joe Simon, on the other hand, said, “I’ve not seen the police report, I’ve not seen discovery, it would be irresponsible for me to comment.” Simon said that Moore was taken to a local hospital after being arrested to evaluate his mental health status, but was only evaluated on Thursday, after being turned back to law enforcement. Simon argued that Moore had no weapons to surrender and would comply with future mental health evaluations ordered by the court.

Moore is currently charged $25,000 for release bond, and is directed not to use alcohol or any other drugs. He will need to carry a GPS tether upon release, and should not leave the state the Michigan without the court’s permission. He is not supposed to contact the victim by any means, and the next hearing will be set for Jan. 22.
