On Friday, Texas officials announced that star Arch Manning underwent foot surgery this week and will remain limited in his offseason workouts. So far, the officials haven’t disclosed the nature of the injury. However, much to the fanbase’s relief, it was not an alarming situation but rather a minor preventive procedure aimed at addressing a previous injury.
Although he will remain limited during workouts for a while, he is expected to return during spring drills.

Already touted as the top 2027 Draft pick, Manning will look to improve his skill set during the offseason (after recovery). Last season, he struggled with his footwork, with his O-line collapsing under pressure. Not just that, turnovers remained a glaring issue (7 interceptions). However, he saw significant improvement in the later stretch of the season. Now, building on that, Manning will focus on honing his craft.
The 2025 season may have fallen short of expectations. However, that has not deterred him from playing his best next season. He is leaning on his family and loved ones, taking advice from his legendary grandad and uncles.

“I just need to go out there and play my game,” he said post-Citrus Bowl. “Just go cut it loose and have some fun.”
He completed the 2025 season, totaling more than 3,000 passing yards and 26 touchdowns. Undoubtedly, he faced massive criticism, compounded by the weight of the Manning legacy on his shoulders. But head coach Steve Sarkisian remained confident in his QB throughout the season.

“He’s a young man who’s gotten better as the season’s gone on, and not only physically, but mentally, maturity-wise,” Sarkisian said. “I would think he’s going to want another year of that growth to put himself in position for hopefully a long career in the NFL. And he’s got some unfinished business of what he came here to do and what he came here to accomplish.”
With more than six months remaining before the 2026 season begins, the Longhorns are already projected as national title contenders. While the program saw more than 20 players leave for the portal, Coach Sarkisian has added 16 commits to his roster, including WR Cam Coleman, OL Dylan Sikorski, and others, adding significant weapons for Arch Manning on offense.

Why did the Texas QB have surgery this week?
So far, no further information has been disclosed about the nature of the surgery or which previous injury is being discussed. All we know is that Arch Manning is expected to be fully recovered by spring camp. Over the course of the season, Manning sustained a concussion and was sacked 23 times. It is possible he sustained an injury at that time.
Besides Manning, a couple of other players will also take it easy during their recovery phase. DB Xavier Filsaime (shoulder), OT Trevor Goosby (shoulder), WR Emmett Mosley V (ankle), LB Ty’Anthony Smith (shoulder), and WR Ryan Wingo (wrist) have undergone surgeries recently.
