Two of the most popular QBs in the SEC might actually be in cahoots with each other. Ty Simpson and Arch Manning have strengthened their bond over time, despite being rivals. But they’re also taking tips from each other to arm themselves for the future. What one has tried in the past, the other plans to test it when the fight comes to them. Who would’ve thought such a bond could exist between the two stars?

Manning will face off against an elite Georgia defense this weekend. It’s a big game, and he’s covering all his bases because a loss will keep Texas out of the playoffs. This prep includes him “[anticipating] debriefing” Georgia with Simpson, David Eckert quoted Manning saying recently. The Texas QB revealed that they’ve been doing so some time now, which turned the spotlight towards the Alabama QB. Simpson couldn’t help but get candid about their rapport. “Arch has got a loud mouth, huh?” he joked to the press after practice on Tuesday.

But the bond between them actually runs deeper than just exchanging information. “That’s my guy…We talk weekly, not just about ball, but just how each other are doing. He’s a really good friend of mine,” Simpson told the press recently. “Just, stuff that we talk about not just as friends but, you know, as quarterbacks as well,” he added. Manning is not the only one asking for a roundup of opponents.

Simpson said that he asked the Longhorns QB about Oklahoma, which was a really good game for Manning. The Sooners’ defense is one of the stingiest in the SEC. Though Simpson is clearly the better-faring QB in the duo, some prior knowledge about an elite defense is always welcome. He’s supplying his information about the Georgia side, making this a win-win situation. Simpson is the only QB in the league who has bragging rights over the Bulldogs, after all.

He’s a nut … A ton of respect to him and his family and his brother. He’s a really good friend. A good friend to have,” he said. They both emerged as the best quarterbacks of the 2023 cycle. Manning was of course, the star, but Simpson was also a highly pursued target, being the 3rd-best QB in 2023, according to 247Sports Composite rankings.

Despite Ty Simpson’s recent performance, he is ready to take Arch Manning’s tips, which can prove to be beneficial, as he’s among the few QBs who got the better of Brent Venables’ defense.

But the way the Oklahoma defense has dominated college football should keep the QB on the lookout. “This is, by far, the most well-coached, disruptive defense that we’ve seen,” Simpson said of the unit. Brent Venables is a defensive genius. He is proving his might yet again as Oklahoma leads the SEC in scoring defense. Yet, Arch Manning outsmarted them.

In fact, the Longhorns’ offense came out swinging against Oklahoma, finishing 23-6. But it was really Arch Manning who stole the show. Texas found itself restricted in the first two quarters, but the QB and the offense found pace after halftime. Manning completed 21 of his 27 passes, threw for 166 yards, and also scored 1 TD. His massive 75-yard TD pass to DeAndre Moore Jr. proved to be the moment the tide began to turn towards Manning. His second-highest QB rating comes from this game.

Ty Simpson will have to operate on a similar level. The expectations are high for the already stellar QB, but fans know the Sooners are preparing a serious fight for him. The more help he gets from a friend and quarterback who’s already beaten them, the better.,
