The transfer portal is buzzing, and Mike Norvell’s Florida State is right in the center of it. The Seminoles’ roster is being plagued by a wave of departures following a rocky season under Mike Norvell. Some players are chasing more playing time, others are looking for a fresh start, and one young WR is the latest to make the leap, stepping away from the promise of Tallahassee for a new opportunity.

FSU WR Camdon Frier is officially entering the transfer portal, as reported by On3. The redshirt freshman spent two seasons in Tallahassee but saw limited action, recording no stats in four appearances. A preseason injury in 2024 led to a redshirt year, and a crowded receiver room gave no chance to Frier.

But Frier comes from a Seminole legacy. His uncle Todd was a defensive back on the 1999 championship team, and his father, Matt Frier, captained the FSU team that won the national title in 1993. Frier, a gifted four-star prospect from Columbia in Lake City, was ranked No. 69 among wide receivers and No. 481 overall in the 2024 247Sports overall rankings. The combination of injuries and depth chart overload meant it was time to move elsewhere to chase his football dreams, despite the family roots.

After Camdon Frier stepped back, former four-star Jayvan Boggs followed suit. Despite battling injuries and depth chart issues during his brief time at FSU, Boggs finished with nine receptions for 103 yards and a score. With three seasons of eligibility to prove himself elsewhere, he is scheduled to visit the Ole Miss Rebels. Boggs, who switched from UCF to join the Seminoles under Gus Malzahn, was one of FSU’s best recruits in the 2025 recruiting cycle. His departure creates another void at a position that was already experiencing instability.

Even with the departures, FSU isn’t completely depleted. Duce Robinson, Micahi Danzy, and Lawayne McCoy are among the top three wideouts from last season who are expected to return, providing a foundation around which Norvell and receivers coach Tim Harris Jr. can rebuild.

While the portal has taken some talent, it also clears spots for incoming transfers, giving the Seminoles a chance to reload their offense for the next season.

FSU hunts for quarterback stability

With the transfer portal open and the Seminoles searching for stability, Florida State has turned into a hub of quarterback activity. FSU is preparing for a pivotal 2026 season by scheduling visits with three quarterbacks who could potentially contribute to Tallahassee after the roster struggled with inconsistency and injury in 2025.

The first stop on the quarterback carousel is UNLV’s Anthony Colandrea, fresh off a Mountain West Player of the Year season. Colandrea wrapped up with 3,459 passing yards, 23 touchdowns, and nine interceptions, as well as 649 running yards and ten more scores. His numbers scream dual-threat and proven productivity.

He is joined on campus by DJ Lagway of rival Florida Gators, a former five-star recruit whose high ceiling has been tempered by injuries and inconsistent play but still has the talent and potential to turn his career around, and Ashton Daniels, an Auburn transfer with a mix of experience from his time at Stanford and a brief stint as a starter at Auburn.

For Florida State, these visits are about finding a quarterback who can put an end to the quarterback carousel and secure the position for the next few seasons. Although four-star Jaden O’Neil provides depth and true freshman Kevin Sperry will return, the portal choices could be the difference between another rough season and a club that finally clicks under Mike Norvell’s system.

The drama and the pressure all collide as the Seminoles attempt to rewrite their offensive story with Tallahassee about to become the stage for some pivotal decisions.
