SMU Mustangs, after a statement-making ACC debut last season, haven’t had their best start to their 2025 season. They are 5-3 already, and Rhett Lashle and Kevin Jennings are planning to find a way into the playoffs for the second straight season. Under all the pressure, QB Jennings revealed what keeps him stable and focused.

SMU’s QB Kevin Jennings, on the recent appearance on Gramlich & Mac Lain, revealed that one thing that keeps him happy and motivated despite going through the ups and downs is his designer dog, “Fendy,” who helped him manage the bad days and kept him stable. “She kind of helps me out a lot.” Kevin Jennings said, “I can come home from a bad day, a lot of stuff going on, but as long as I can see my dog, it’s the best thing, honestly.” Kevin admits that his dog is the real game-changer, which takes care of his mental health.
It seems like Fendy has really helped him stay focused. If you take a look at Jennings’ season so far, he has never failed to perform, despite the ups and downs of the Mushtangs, except for their last game against Wake Forest. However, in the eight games he played this season, he completed 181 of 273 passes for 2119 yards for 17 touchdowns, 8 interceptions, and 13 sacks, with a completion rate of 66.3%. He also rushed 46 times for 32 yards for 1 touchdown.

He does have a problem with interceptions and sacks, but that didn’t stop him from owning the most passing yards. He owns the second-most passing yards and the most passing touchdowns in the ACC. Despite coming from a tough loss, the QB looks optimistic and is looking forward to the big game against Miami. Thanks to Fendy for keeping his mental health stable.

Kevin Jennings Reveals His Game Plan Against Miami
Kevin Jennings’ SMU will be hosting Miami this weekend at the Gerald J. Ford Stadium. With a giant clash coming in, the QB shared his point of emphasis for playing against Miami. “Yeah, it’s nothing like pointing out, nothing like that.” Kevin Jennings said, “Just basically playing on time, and being on time with everything. I need to make sure I got the right footsteps and all that type of stuff, because the thing is, for me, I trust my O-lineman.
Jennings keeps his plan uptight irrespective of the opponent. “So, no matter who we face, no matter who we’re going against, it’s nothing different. Nothing pointing out stuff like that. Just make sure I play on time and the rhythm is there,” the QB said.
Miami is the 10.5 favorites to win the game, yet Jennings continues to be a player to watch out for. His passing yards and touchdowns can be a threat, but Miami’s defense can be a big nightmare for the Junior. Although Carson Beck’s recent struggle has been an issue for Miami, they’re seemingly a balanced team in the contest. Yet, we need to wait and watch if SMU can able to pull out an upset on Miami by any chance.
