The 2025 college football season has witnessed some extremes when it comes to the ticket scene. Before DeShaun Foster was fired, the UCLA Bruins head coach came up with a plan to boost their ticket sales against Jason Eck’s New Mexico Lobos at the Rose Bowl. The next move? Foster and Co. dropped the price as low as $8, almost at the cost of a bag of Doritos. But this is just one side of the coin. On the other side, there are James Franklin’s Penn State Nittany Lions and Dan Lanning’s Oregon Ducks that got featured in the ‘Top 10 Most Expensive College Football Games’ in Week 5.

The Ducks are fresh off a blowout 41-7 win over rival Oregon State, and are now gearing to head to Penn State College for what could prove to be the most important game of the entire season in the Big Ten. For Franklin’s boys, it’s their first major test of the season as both teams enter the game unbeaten. But what’s the craze for the Franklin and Lanning face-off? It’s a rematch of last season’s Big Ten title clash, where the unbeaten Ducks edged out a 45-37 thriller. What’s the price range that fans will have to pay to witness the Franklin vs Lanning face-off?
Want in? You’ll need deep pockets. With so much on the line, this game won’t come cheap for fans hoping to be there in person. As per TickPick’s IG post, at No.1 is Penn State vs Oregon at $412. The cheapest way in? $395 a ticket, but only if you’re buying two. Going solo? It’ll cost you at least $425. Want the VIP experience? That’ll be $1,099, please. After Franklin’s Penn State and the Oregon fever, at No.2 is Georgia vs. Alabama at $410, Washington vs Ohio State at $131. You see that range?

From $400 to the straight $1000 range. As the ticket price ceiling soared higher, Franklin’s list of missed calls on his phone got longer. As Penn State insider Rocco Pellegrino tweeted a funny update. He shared a screenshot that read, “Sec NHU Row 78 Verified Resale Ticket $416.50.” The caption read how Franklin is now suddenly remembered by his acquaintances, with whom the Penn State head coach had lost touch. “Franklin says there’s been cousins that he hasn’t heard from in 25 years that have reached out to him asking for whiteout tickets. 🤣 The cheapest ticket to get in is $416 for Penn State vs. Oregon,” wrote the analyst. Now, will Franklin’s boys disappoint the fans who are willing to make a hole in their pocket?
James Franklin’s boys get back-to-back wake-up calls
Well, given Franklin’s program’s White Out records, the Penn State fans might be seeing some silver lining. As per the data, the Nittany Lions have an 11-6 record during full-stadium White Out games. Five of those six losses came against top-15-ranked teams. This was taken up by Greg McElroy on the ESPN College Football podcast. “This game’s in Happy Valley. It’s a White Out, which is significant. I feel like Penn State always plays well in a White Out environment,” said the analyst.
However, analyst Aaron Murray did not allow Franklin and his boys to enjoy the entire spotlight. Instead, he came up with a wake-up call, “They’re true contenders… Dante’s [Moore] playing… their skill positions are absolutely tremendous… [Malik] Benson can absolutely fly as well… So, like, they are as explosive as you want to be…. I love their offense.”

Meanwhile, Franklin is yet to get rid of their burden, carrying a broken wide receivers room. That’s when Murray did not mince his words and confessed, “I do like Oregon. I love Dan Lanning… I think they’re going to find a way to get this dub this weekend.” Not just the analysts, Lanning, too, keeps Franklin and his boys on the edge. “We will do everything we can to be prepared for that environment,” the Oregon head coach raised an alarm. And guess what? Franklin’s Penn State accepted the challenge and is leaving no stone unturned to flip the script against the Ducks. So much so, they braved showers to prepare for White Out game.
Rain began to fall just as Penn State hit the practice field on Wednesday, September 24. It’s perhaps a sneak peek at Saturday’s conditions, with AccuWeather hinting at a 30% chance of rain for the White Out clash. Rain may be in the forecast. But will it be James Franklin’s Nittany Lions who pour it on Oregon, or get washed away themselves?
