Who said money can’t buy happiness? Just ask Sherrone Moore, who grabbed the No. 1 QB of the 2025 class, Bryce Underwood‘s commitment with a massive $10.5 million deal. And he didn’t just stop at that. Michigan got 24 commits this year, ranking 2nd in the Big 10 and 6th nationally. Now, you can understand Moore’s recruiting excellence. But now he is not just worrying about the present but the future too. His latest move? Bringing in an NIL agent to turn things around for their 2026 class. Looks like there’s no way Moore’s gonna stop now!
Michigan went above and beyond this weekend, not only recruiting top prospects but also welcoming NIL agent Adam McCann of King Consulting and Jordan Sports Group to help influence them. And EJ Holland wasted no time in hitting this news on X, saying, “Michigan hosted NIL agent @CoachMcCannERT over the weekend he talks about his time in Ann Arbor & gives an inside look at GM Sean Magee.” Looks like Sherrone Moore and Michigan aren’t leaving a single chance to make a big impact.
Now, talking about his experience, Adam McCann says, “My experience was good; they welcomed me like family. We had a lot of good conversations. It’s always good to talk to Coach Moore and Coach Tony. It was also good to be around the culture. I got to see how they are working with the players and coaching guys up.” But who made an instant impact on Adam was Michigan’s GM, Sean Magee. And praising him, he says, “I got to expand my horizons so I can get my guys better. I love talking to Sean; he breaks things down so strategically. He knows his stuff. He shows you how you are going to get from A to Z.”

In addition to coaching high school in New York and working as a private trainer, Adam McCann also serves as a contract negotiator, advisor, and recruiting strategist. His recruiting list boasts five-star running back Savion Hiter and four-star cornerback Camdin Portis, both key Michigan targets.

And what makes the difference is that McCann is not only their NIL manager but also their off-field advisor. “I make sure they understand contracts they get into,” McCann said. “We make sure they get every penny they deserve, we protect them contract-wise, we also take care of them off the field, we just want them to play ball. These kids have a lot of responsibilities. We don’t want them to miss something.” Looks like NIL is going to make a massive difference in securing these players.
The fact that Adam McCann was in Ann Arbor raised questions, especially concerning Camdin Portis, a four-star cornerback from Myers Park who has been committed to Miami since October. So, can Sherrone Moore flip his commitment? If we go by Adam McCann’s words, Sherrone Moore’s defensive back coach, LaMar Morgan, can make the difference. As he says, “Anyone can be an option with Coach LaMar (Morgan). I don’t know if Camdin would flip, but being around Coach LaMar is going to be dangerous. I can see why he wins the guys he wants—his personality, his character, and getting coached by one of the best.” And why would it make a difference?
During his time at Vanderbilt, Coach Morgan coached top tackles in the 2021 season, who are Jaylen Mahoney and Gabe Jeudy-Lally. Jaylen was in 3rd position with 53 tackles, 2.0 sacks, and two picks, whereas Jeudy was in 5th with 50 tackles and one pick. And with Adam’s confidence in Portis, as he says, “Most importantly, he doesn’t back down. As you’ve seen in OT7, he makes top receivers look like they might not be top receivers. He’s a dark horse as one of the best DBs in the class.” There’s a high chance he might thrive best under Coach Morgan’s supervision. But he’s not the only one turning heads this off-season…

Well, Sherrone Moore and Michigan are making significant strides in recruiting, not only for the current season but also for future seasons. Their latest move involves securing Louisa County’s 4-star RB, Savion Hiter. Although Hiter did not accompany McCann on the Michigan visit, his influence is prominent in the Wolverines’ recruiting efforts, thanks to his impressive track record. In 2025, Hiter participated in the Under Armour All-America Game, where he showcased his talent by recording 5 carries for 22 yards.

Now, this spring, Savion Hiter has maintained a low profile, making only two visits and leaving the business side of the process to McCann. “Savion is handling the process the way he wants to,” McCann said. “Slow motion. He’s waiting to make the right decision. He wants to make all his official visits and move forward from there. Right now, he’s just trying to keep it slow-motion and enjoy some of it because he knows that tough decision is around the corner.”
But what adds an interesting twist is that Tony Alford, the running backs coach at Michigan, has had a longstanding relationship with Adam McCann for years, even before NIL became a factor. This enduring connection has been advantageous for the Wolverines in Hiter’s recruitment.
As Adam puts it, “That’s the first time I was able to get around the practice. They have a bunch of good kids in the running back room. They are coaching each other up and helping each other. How Coach Tony teaches the game, it really translates to the field. He dissects film and shows the guys why they do things. There was a lot of good stuff from him. I see Savion fitting in well with Justice (Haynes), (Jordan) Marshall, and B Hall (Ben Hall).” That sure can be a game-changer in Savion’s case.

Additionally, during a spring visit, McCann observed that Michigan’s running back group is not only skilled but also closely knit, reflecting Savion Hiter’s own mindset and character. Now, there’s a chance that Sherrone Moore’s coaching staff can turn things around for him. Let’s see if that’s the case or not.
