Mike Norvell has been navigating the portal to build his roster for the 2026 season to potentially save his job. The Noles’ head coach received a positive piece of news on the offensive side of things. However, it was followed by another exit from the program to the portal.

Florida State landed a commitment from Texas RB Quintrevion ‘Tre’ Wisner, who has one year of eligibility left. The junior RB had a disappointing season with the Longhorns but still recorded a team-leading 597 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 131 carries across nine games this past season. However, it was roughly half of Wisner’s production as a sophomore.

In the 2024 season, Wisner accumulated 1,064 rushing yards (five touchdowns) on 226 carries. The RB totalled 1,734 rushing yards on 369 carries and maintained an average of 45.6 yards per game throughout his time with Texas.

As a prospect from DeSoto High School in Texas, Wisner was named Texas District 9-4A-II Co-Offensive Newcomer of the Year, and as a junior, he was named Co-Offensive MVP at Waco Connally. Graduating from DeSoto, Wisner was a three-star prospect, being the 33rd-best running back and 77th overall player within Texas.

He received offers from 21 top colleges across the country, including Auburn, Arkansas, Baylor, Florida, Florida State, Houston, LSU, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas A&M, USC, and more. However, the Texas native chose the Longhorns. However, after three seasons, he moved to FSU. This move could potentially bolster an RB room that needs weapons to help balance Gus Malzahn’s offense.

However, before the Noles could fully enjoy the arrival of the three-star RB, a three-star DL announced his entry to the portal.

Mandrell Desir announced his entry into the Portal

FSU’s freshman All-American DL Mandrell Desir announced his decision to enter the portal, along with his twin brother Darryll Desir. The 6-foot-4, 262-pound DL had two starts over 12 games this season and finished with 30 tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss, and 6.5 sacks on 339 snaps. He also had a pass breakup and a forced fumble. He played a crucial role in the Seminoles’ defense from the very first game, recording four tackles in the season opener during a 31-17 victory over Alabama. His highest-graded game came against East Texas A&M, earning him a 90.7 grade.

As a high schooler at Miami Norland High School, Mandrell played both DE and LB and totaled 53 tackles, six sacks, and a forced fumble as a sophomore. He finished his junior campaign recording 29 tackles, five for loss, three sacks, and two fumble returns. He helped Norland win the Florida 2M championship that season.

Mandrell’s high school career made him a three-star prospect and the 54th-best edge and 80th overall player of the 2025 class. He received 20 offers from top schools across the country, including those in Cincinnati, Florida, Colorado, Indiana, Georgia Tech, Louisville, Maryland, Pittsburgh, Stanford, Texas A&M, Charlotte, and Toledo, among others.

He was initially committed to the UCF Knights but flipped his commitment to join the Seminoles. However, after a lone season, he heads to the portal, looking for a new home. It would be interesting to see if any of those schools are still interested in Mandrell, who comes as a package along with his twin, Darryl.
