Lane Kiffin made a solid grab in the transfer portal with No. 1 OL Jordan Seaton from LSU. From going to Knoxville for Sam Leavitt to bringing in 40 new players from the portal, the head coach is turning the fate of the Tigers. With the latest win, Kiffin took to social media and sent a cryptic, intriguing message.

“Said SpotThe Ball on 1/2/26, it would be the best in history. Hope you enjoyed the grand finale @LSUfootball♟️,” LSU Tigers’ head coach Lane Kiffin said on X.
The LSU head coach seems content with the way their transfer portal business has panned out. His message indicates the confidence he has in Seaton to be the
“best” signing for the Tigers, and Kiffin appears proud to have beaten his rival coaches to secure the OL’s commitment.
Lane Kiffin has a tendency to use the phrase “spot the ball” before making a massive announcement. He used it on Florida’s former coach, Billy Napier, taking a dig at their early struggles, and also used it as a playlist to influence recruits or send shade at other teams. This time, it’s about showing his dominance on the portal.
Jordan Seaton is the portal’s best offensive lineman, who chose LSU over Mississippi State, Miami, and Oregon after visits. He’s got two years of eligibility left and fits the bill perfectly for Lane Kiffin and the Tigers. Seaton is expected to be a first-round pick in the 2027 NFL draft.
After coming to Colorado as a five-star prospect, Seaton found himself in the starting lineup immediately, where he used to block current Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders.
He sustained a lower-body injury against Utah, and he was sidelined for the final three games. Despite that, he earned second-team All-Big 12 honors. In his nine games with Colorado, he allowed only nine pressures and two sacks. And he went six games without giving up a single pressure, as per PFF.

Seaton can perfectly protect Sam Leavitt at LSU just like he did for Shedeur Sanders in Colorado. He has allowed just five sacks in 948 pass-blocking snaps at Colorado, proving how well he can protect the quarterback. They needed a major overhaul in their offensive line, as in the 2025 season, they failed to protect quarterback Garrett Nussmeier, whose yards per attempt dropped from 7.7 in 2024 to 6.8 in November.
Now, after facing a tough season with Colorado’s 3-9 season, Lane Kiffin’s LSU seems like a perfect fit for Seaton, as he can instantly impact the team. Besides Seaton, Lane Kiffin also added promising linemen like Devin Harper, Aliou Bah, Sean Thompkins, and Ja’Mard Jones.
With Seaton’s addition, Kiffin keeps building on his promise of assembling a strong 2026 class.
“I think when these next two days are done, it’ll be the best portal class in the history of college football,” Kiffin said. “That’s still… there’s a lot of work to do once they get here. But to assemble that talent, you could not do that anywhere else.
This is a message to the best players in the country about where to come. We came here together to put ourselves together with LSU and to put that together to give the players this to come to and to see the early success before we’ve ever won a game.”
That success pushed him to the top position.
Lane Kiffin’s major portal win
Lane Kiffin didn’t just make the move; he made sure he made an impact on the LSU roster. As per ESPN, he assembled the No. 1 transfer portal class, which immediately raised their championship expectations. Kiffin and his staff brought in 40 newcomers in just weeks on the job.
The class features eight top 100 transfers, including Sam Leavitt, who’s the no. 1 player in the portal. They also have four Top 50 wide receivers. But the success didn’t just stop at offense; their defense also received a major upgrade.
They added defensive back Ty Benefield, top-ranked edge rusher Princewill Umanmielen from Ole Miss, wide receiver Eugene Wilson, and edge Jordan Ross. With these additions, Lane Kiffin is signalling that his program is “built for a championship.”
Now, let’s wait and see how these playmakers turn LSU’s fate in the coming season.
