Deion Sanders hoped for a second opportunity for his son, and the universe answered. After the Tampa Bay disappointment, Shilo is now expected to test the NFL waters in the west coast and he better not rest easy. Because Coach Prime may say he has prepared his kids ‘for every situation’ all he wants, but there’s no hiding the fact that he’s keeping every step in check.

Exactly a month after the Buccaneers released Shilo as a part of the roster cuts, he drew an interest from the San Francisco 49ers. By September 25th, he was working out under HC Kyle Shanahan who had a secondary battered by injuries. But Coach Prime wasn’t letting the celebrations come easy.
Speaking to Mark Jackson on CU Radio Network, he revealed, “I said, ‘Son, just a random question. When was the last time you run?’ He said, ‘I’ve been working out.’” Coach Prime shot back with, “I know you like a book, son.”

The last game Shilo played was during the preseason with Tampa Bay. Even then, he was ejected after throwing a punch at Buffalo Bills’ TE Zach Davidson. Two days later, the Buccaneers parted ways. While Coach Prime shared his message in a jest, he does hold his sons to a certain standard.
It is as simple as: “They don’t have to be the best but they have to give their best.” So far, Shilo hasn’t showcased anything defining for the 49ers to stick with him. He faces competition against five other defensive players that the team has brought in, and analysts say the chances are slim. But if it does work out between the two parties, it would make for a great storyline– Two decades ago, the now-Colorado Buffalos HC had spent a standout season with the 49ers, helping them secure a Super Bowl title.
But if Coach Shanahan decides to look the other way, Coach Prime already has plans in place for his son: entertainment. The Buffs HC revealed that Shilo has been meeting up with a bunch of agents in California to try a hand at movies. There, he picks the former Buffs safety to succeed with his eyes closed.
While dad Deion keeps things light, yanking Shilo’s chain, Coach Deion has other things keeping him up at night.
Deion Sanders’ plate is full of too many worries
This weekend is going to be a real test for Deion’s boys. Colorado’s wound from last year’s Alamo Bowl is still fresh. Kalani Sitake’s BYU Cougars crushed the Buffaloes, handing them a 14-36 defeat. Already, Deion and co. might be looking for some motivational juice to oomph up their 2-2 record. Apparently, the head coach looks all cool. In an interview with BYU Sports analyst Ben Criddle, he only had good things to say about Sitake.
“BYU Coach Sitake, I consider him a friend. I consider him a dear, dear, dear friend and a God-fearing man, which I adore. Man of standard, man of principle, and a darn good coach, and a good dude. He’s gonna have his team ready,” said Deion. But deep inside, the Buffs’ head coach is running impatient to make his failed promise come true.
Before the Alamo Bowl last season, Deion had kept the expectations high. He promised, “I’m pretty sure we’re going to break that [record], because I know what Coach [Sitake] is going to bring to the table, and I know how deep our fans come, so we’re going to sell this game out, expeditiously. So get ready to put a little tickets in the cut.” But the result was truly disappointing. While they had to break the 66,166 record, only 64,261 turned out.
As the turnout number might give Deion Sanders sleepless nights, he might also be anxious about the quarterback position. His “detaining” of Kaidon Salter paid off. After being sidelined for the Houston game, Salter left his mark against Wyoming, throwing for 304 yards and three touchdowns with no picks, while adding 86 yards and a rushing score on the ground. But the question remains, will he be able to hold onto his charm against the Cougars?
