USC has done it again. The Trojans flipped four-star cornerback Danny Lang and four-star offensive tackle Drew Fielder away from Oregon, and this time, they did not let it go quietly. The USC took to social media to mock Dan Lanning and the Ducks publicly, which drew a response from the Oregon head coach.
“No reaction. I’m much more focused on one in the fall,” Oregon’s head coach, Dan Lanning, said during a press conference.

Danny Lang’s decision to join USC instead of Oregon gave the program a chance to make fun of Lanning’s earlier comment, “The grass is damn green in Eugene,” which he said before showing his loyalty to Oregon when he was linked to Alabama’s job. Then, to troll Oregon, USC posts a video where green grass turns red and writes, “Guess the grass wasn’t greener.”
This was meant to mock both Lanning’s words and Oregon’s loss in recruiting. USC does not stop there. They also flipped another recruit, four-star offensive tackle Drew Fielder, who had already committed to Oregon on February 1. After that, USC posts another video showing a traffic light changing from green to red.
USC is currently ranked No. 1 in the 2026 recruiting class according to 247Sports. They have 35 total commits, which is a big class. Oregon is ranked No. 3 with 24 commits. Even though they have fewer players, their average recruit rating is higher at 92.86 compared to USC’s 91.97. Dan Lanning is focusing more on top-level talent like four-star and five-star players. USC, on the other hand, has a larger class but includes 13 three-star recruits.
On the field, Oregon holds a much better record against USC, as Dan Lanning’s team has not lost to USC since 2016. Plus, he has also beaten USC twice and has a 2-0 record against them. So, it’s pretty clear that Oregon shows up where it matters the most, and that’s in their performance in the game.

Last season, Oregon beat USC 42-27 at Autzen Stadium. This was an important game because both teams were fighting for a spot in the College Football Playoff. Oregon played strongly in that game and controlled the matchup, winning the game. The year before that, in 2023, Oregon also defeated USC in Eugene. That game ended with a score of 36-27.
In that game, Oregon was led by quarterback Bo Nix, while USC had Caleb Williams. Even with a top player like Williams, USC could not win. But despite that, USC never stopped trolling Oregon when it comes to recruiting wins. Last year, they did the same when Dan Lanning had gone viral for jumping into a pool during a recruit’s commitment video.
Later, that same recruit, defensive end Richard Wesley, decommitted from Oregon, which gave USC a chance to respond playfully. USC then posted a video using a scene from the movie Anchorman, where actor Will Ferrell jumps into a pool. They replaced the original sound with their team’s fight song to make it more personal. At the end of the video, USC added their “Fight On” hand sign and the message, “We got him.”
Yet despite all the seriousness of trolls, Dan Lanning is focusing on developing his team.
Dan Lanning gives an update on the running back situation
Oregon comes back to spring football practice after a two-week break. The team is in better shape now, especially at the running back position, after dealing with many injuries at the end of the 2025 season. Dan Lanning made it clear that the group is getting closer to being fully healthy. This is a good sign as the team prepares for the new season.
Jordon Davison, who suffered a broken clavicle during the College Football Playoff, has started practicing again. He is not fully back yet, but he is taking part in some drills. He had a great freshman season with 667 rushing yards and 15 touchdowns.
At the same time, Da’Jaun Riggs is still not practicing, but he is expected to return soon. Simeon Price is also still recovering from a knee injury that ended his season early at Colorado. Lanning explains the situation.
“Those guys are all practicing, some more in a limited fashion,” Lanning said. “Dink is still down right now, but he should be able to get back for us. He did some stuff for us today, but we feel he’ll be back and around this spring.”
Oregon has a strong group of running backs with many good players available. Players like Jordon Davison, Dierre Hill Jr., Da’Jaun Riggs, and Simeon Price are expected to lead the group. Now, let’s wait and see how teams hold up the pace after the spring game.
