For a talented player at Colorado Buffaloes who unfortunately lacks a father figure at the moment, Sanders is stepping in. Deion Sanders never strays away from his word, and this bond is a testament to that.

Deion Sanders is standing good on a promise he made to Jimmy Horn Sr., father of star WR Jimmy Horn Jr. In 2021, the former was sentenced to jail time for drug-related charges. This harsh turn of events is causing the father to be absent from his son’s college career, which has been nothing short of a wonder. Deion Sanders took up the responsibility of mentoring him, assuring Jimmy Horn Sr. that he’d look after his son while he was away. Now that Horn Jr. is looking to go pro, his father reached out to Sanders with an emotional message of gratitude.

As sad as the fact that the father couldn’t watch his son grow into the player he is today, Deion sure has delivered what he promised. And it goes without saying that Horn Sr. is beyond grateful to Deion for being there for his son when he can’t. He wrote a letter expressing his thanks to the veteran NFL legend, as Jimmy Horn Jr. awaits his pro days. “Genuine brother of America, appreciate you more than you can ever know. You are truly a blessing, a sign that, all things are possible through mercy, grace and everlasting love.” He continued, “You say you be there for my son Jimmy Horn Jr., also including me.” Horn Sr. also attached a photo of the trio as “the truth and the proof.” If you didn’t love Coach Prime before, surely this must’ve moved a muscle or two in your heart for him.

Sanders, too, acknowledged their bond and was emotional when he received the letter. He wrote in the caption, “This is about relationship! I decided to post this because it brought tears to my eyes and joy to my heart simultaneously. Jimmy Horn Sr. is incarcerated but still having impact on lil Jimmy & me. When a Florida boy tells another Florida boy he got his son covered we stand on it.”

Coach Prime also hoped that the father and son would be reunited in the future and Horn Sr. would once again be able to enjoy fatherhood to the fullest. “I love the Horns 2 Life and lil Jimmy is gonna make it and prepare a table for big Jimmy when he’s free. I’ve loved y’all since Day 1. God bless the Horns.” Like, talk about brotherhood!

Deion Sanders has diligently filled in as a parent to the talented kid. His dedication to making the latter a proper, talented footballer saw results. Horn Jr. participated in Colorado’s Pro Day on April 4. Despite his college career coming to an end, the bond between him and Coach Prime is easily going to last for a lifetime.

Horn Sr. raised the star WR as a single parent, a commendable feat. He toiled away as a truck driver so that Horn Jr. could pursue his dreams. However, his incarceration came at a crucial time of Horn Jr.’s career. He missed out on the entirety of it, and he was unable to watch the latter make those impressive games and plays. Deion Sanders has always stepped up for his friend, proving he will always be there for Jimmy Horn Jr.

Sanders had accompanied the WR on a visit to the prison, from where Horn Sr. still keeps in touch. Every moment when the lack of a father was felt, Coach Prime stepped in. In a heartwarming gesture, he walked with Horn Jr. on CU’s senior day. “That’s something that my people always wanted me to do, accomplish my dreams and be able to finish college… To have somebody walk down there with me, it meant a lot to me,” the WR said.

The relationship between the trio is so special that Sanders even made a video appeal regarding Horn Sr.’s trial. “His son, Jimmy Horn Jr., left to go see his father and be there for whatever transpires. I just want you to know that I’ve talked to Jimmy Horn Sr. and, truly, he has served a multitude of years, he has repented for what has transpired, and he is truly a different man.” Sanders said.

As a player, it’s no wonder that Jimmy is so great at the game. Throughout his college career of four years, Jimmy Horn rushed for 1,967 yards and scored 10 touchdowns. Still, Deion Sanders regards him as a “game-changer.” As Jimmy Horn Jr. enters pro football, he knows he has the support of Coach Prime and his father.
