Amidst the lot of high-flying hoopers this time around is the Florida Atlantic Owls guard Alijah Martin.

He made a lot of headlines when architecting Florida Atlantic’s upset with No. 12 Texas A&M. Combining with Johnell Davis, Martin gave a scintillating performance that urged everyone to know more about him.

The Alijah Martin’s story
Alijah Martin was born in Summit, Mississippi and developed an interest in sports as a young kid. His mother Tina Wells-Martin was a basketball coach at the time of his birth. Apparently, he had basketball in his hands before he could learn how to walk and often played with his older sister. Moreover, Alijah was a natural athlete who took an active part in baseball, football and soccer growing up. In addition to this, he also participated in several basketball leagues. Martin then pursued his studies at the North Pike High School where he decided to represent their basketball team. Following this, he was spotted by Dusty May in 2020 after which he declared his commitment to the Owls.

The Florida Atlantic Owls had a tremendous run in their 2022-23 campaign by making it to the Final Four. They have picked up from where they left last season and have won seven out of their eight games so far this year. A whole lot of credit should be given to their junior guard Alijah Martin. One of the catalysts of the Owls’s success last season, Martin is looking forward to end Florida’s wait for their first national championship this season.

How’s season going for Martin?
The dynamic No.15 of the Florida Atlantic Owls is having a decent campaign in the opening month of the NCAA. Martin is currently averaging 13.5 points and 5.1 rebounds per game in the tournament so far. Furthermore, he has an impressive field goal percentage of 39.8 in his 8 games so far. Also, his 25 points played an instrumental part in Florida’s breathtaking 96-89 victory over the Texas A&M.
