As mentioned before, it’s a Begovich family tradition to play basketball. His dad, the late Daniel Matthew Begovich, was a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley. He played varsity basketball in school during the 1970s and later handled his family’s real estate business. Unfortunately, he suddenly passed away on January 7, 2010.

On the other hand, Begovich’s mother, Marrian Bynerwalter, is a Stanford MBA grad. She began her career in finance, working at companies like Hewlett-Packard and Kleiner Perkins, handling portfolios and strategic investments. Over the years, Bynerwalter has served in many leadership roles in both finance and academia. Not to mention, her support of her son and his sporting endeavors has been crucial for his development!

Despite his best efforts, he only managed to play about 14 games.

Joseph, on the other hand, also played for the Stanford Cardinals, but had a completely different path to success. He focused on his political science degree and currently works as an Investigator in the San Francisco Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

Neal’s decision to transfer to Duke for his postgrad was heavily influenced by Daniel, who joined the Blue Devils squad as a graduate assistant some time ago.
