I think that’s the last piece — one more impactful guard… We really need one more guy that has a chance to compete.” This was Coach Bruce Pearl’s stance last year as they were looking for the final piece. That search lasted six days as Miles Kelly committed to the Auburn program. A Georgia Tech transfer and a former 4-star recruit’s inclusion in the team so far has been a hit.

A consistent scorer and a wing player who can defend- that’s the contribution of the 6-foot-6 guard. The team needed it since they had to recover from the surprise first-round exit in the NCAA tournament. Let’s dive deep into one of the integral players of the Tigers squad

Where is Miles Kelly from? What’s his nationality?

The 22-year-old is an American college basketball athlete. As per the Auburn Tigers website, his hometown is Stone Mountain, Georgia. His basketball journey was shaped by his father, who unfortunately passed away when Miles Kelly was in fifth grade.

Having his roots in Georgia, the senior guard decided to commit to playing college basketball for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. To reach this decision, he even rejected other schools, such as N.C. State, Miami, Texas A&M, and Wake Forest.

What is Miles Kelly’s ethnicity? There is no information available

During an interview with Pro Insights back in February 2021, the star guard shared his family’s influence. His father, Melvin Kelly, cleared his son to focus on only one sport, so his path to focus on basketball was his only goal. Mother, Sheila Kelly, revealed, “He dove in headfirst”, emphasizing Miles’ dedication to the game. Being a single mother, Sheila worked as a real estate agent and took care of the needs. Miles Kelly’s ethnicity is not available in the public domain.

What is Miles Kelly’s religion?

For the Tigers, being 15-3 in the tough SEC and 31-5 overall, the team had to rely on their faith. At one of Auburn’s practices earlier this season, senior center Dylan Cardwell noticed a group of players mimicking a phone call with their hands. The group included Broome, fellow big man Miles Kelly, and star freshman guard Tahaad Pettiford. One must have seen the celebration, and the team described it as ‘Call God’.

It stands for ‘Call God,’ so that’s why we throw it up and go to the sky with it,” said Miles Kelly. It was the creation of a student intern, Caleb Jones, on the program’s strength and conditioning staff. “Then we kind of changed it to ‘Call him.’ So, it started with that. Everybody on this team is revolved around God and having a relationship with God, so that’s a big part of why everybody is doing it.”

So, it’s not only him being big on his faith, but other players too. As the journey of any athlete is nothing short of a roller coaster, the foundation of the roots matters the most. In terms of Miles Kelly, he has found the balance not only at home but at Auburn as well.
