The classic rivalry between LSU and Iowa unraveled its new chapter at the Times Union Center on April 1st. Both teams from last year’s national championship game locked horns in the most anticipated and thrilling Elite Eight clash.

The game started with Caitlin Clark opening the proceedings with her signature Logo 3. Following this, the Lady Tigers were in a spot of bother as they were trailing the Hawkeyes 17-9 with 6:03 remaining in the opening quarter. At this time, head coach Kim Mulkey decided to take a much-needed timeout.

During the time out, we see a fired-up Angel Reese giving a rejuvenating pep talk to the rest of her teammates. It appears the All-American forward’s strong communication was the advice to the Lady Tigers to ‘Stop taking dumb shots.’ Moreover, she didn’t seem pleased with how the team was performing.

Unfortunately, they weren’t able to carry this momentum throughout the game and ended up being on the losing side. Still, the Bayou Barbie managed to pull off a monumental effort.

Angel Reese fights dauntlessly

The ferocious LSU No.10 registered her 27th double-double of this season. A rebound-dominated performance meant that she grabbed 20 boards along with scoring 17 of LSU’s points. In addition to this, she had 4 assists, 3 Blocks and 2 steals next to her name. Meanwhile, she was 7 of 21 while shooting from the field and converted 3 out of her 8 free throws. Unfortunately, with just 1:46 remaining in the penultimate quarter, Reese committed her fifth and final foul and got herself ejected. After that, it was too late for LSU to make their way back. Eventually, they lost the contest 94-87.

In the meantime, there is uncertainty revolving around whether Angel Reese might stay or leave LSU. While fans would love to see her in action in an LSU jersey for one more year, it’s up to Reese what she wants to do next. We will however have to wait and see what the future holds for this dynamic superstar.
