LJ Cryer has built a reputation as one of the top guards in college basketball. Whether it’s his elite shooting, leadership, or the undeniable impact he has on the game, you simply can’t overlook him. And this didn’t happen overnight. His success is the product of years of relentless hard work, resilience, and a mindset that refuses to settle. Even now, nothing has changed. He’s still in the gym, still grinding, still proving why he belongs at the top.

“I’m going to give him most of the credit. That kid is a gym rat. Yeah, I spend time with him,” University of Houston associate head coach Quannas White told PaperCityMag while discussing Cryer’s big-time performance against Iowa State and the improvements in his game.

It’s no surprise—Cryer lives in the gym, constantly fine-tuning his craft, always looking for an edge. And while his on-court performances continue to turn heads, fans have started wondering about his life off the court too—particularly his love life. So, here’s everything you need to know about Cougars star’s relationship!

Is LJ Cryer dating anyone? What is the Cougars star’s relationship status?

When it comes to Cryer’s personal life, he plays things just as carefully—keeping it private and out of the spotlight. Unlike many athletes who let glimpses of their relationships slip through social media or interviews, Cryer has maintained a low profile, with no confirmed reports or public statements about his dating life.

His focus appears to be locked in on basketball, leaving little room for distractions. But where there’s a rumor, there’s often a reason.

For Cryer, speculation about his love life started brewing when he was linked to Jordan Lewis, a former standout women’s basketball player at Baylor.

Lewis, a decorated athlete who earned All-SEC and All-Big 12 honors, had a collegiate career that many admired before taking her talents to the professional level. The connection between the two sparked curiosity, especially after fans noticed them together in what appeared to be a casual outing at Topgolf.

As the whispers started spreading, fans began connecting the dots, wondering if the two shared something beyond just mutual respect as high-level athletes. But despite the growing buzz, neither Cryer nor Lewis ever confirmed the rumors. No Instagram posts, no cryptic tweets—just silence.

And in the absence of confirmation, the speculation eventually faded.

So, as it stands, it’s safe to say that LJ Cryer is single, or at least fully invested in his basketball journey. But……

Has LJ Cryer been in a relationship previously?

In an era where athletes’ personal lives are often under a microscope, LJ Cryer has mastered the art of keeping things low-key. There are no cryptic Instagram posts, no flashy headlines about his dating life—just pure focus on the game. Sure, fans might be curious, but if there’s one thing Cryer has made clear, it’s that basketball comes first.

And that’s not just talk.

“But he comes in there even with his girlfriend Jordan (shoes) and works on his game. . . It’s the work that he does after when he’s by himself.”  assistant coach Quannas White says. White, known as Houston’s “Guard Whisperer,” has helped Cryer elevate his game, turning his already deadly step-back into something even nastier.

That relentless drive? It’s nothing new.

Cryer’s story begins in Katy, Texas, where he dominated the high school basketball scene at Morton Ranch. As a junior, he lit up the scoreboard, averaging 27.5 points per game and earning District 19-6A MVP honors.

But his senior year? That was next level—34.2 points per game, finishing with a record-breaking 3,488 career points, the most in Houston-area public school history. No wonder the Houston Chronicle named him the All-Greater Houston Player of the Year.

From there, he took his talents to Baylor University, playing a key role in their 2021 national championship run. After three solid seasons, he made the jump to the University of Houston in 2023, where he wasted no time proving his worth. Cryer became the Cougars’ go-to scorer, and when the lights shined brightest in the NCAA Tournament.

Not just that he even delivered a career-high 30 points against Gonzaga to send Houston to the Sweet 16. But here’s the thing—this is just the beginning.

Why? With his work ethic, hunger, and a love for the game that never fades, Cryer’s influence is only going to grow from here.
