We are just over a week away from March, and Dan Hurley and his UConn Huskies haven’t looked like champions this year. Upset losses to Seton Hall, Villanova, and Xavier showed the mettle of the team under pressure. Although they are on the quest for the ever elusive three-peat, it doesn’t seem likely from the way they have been playing. Not only that, but Coach Hurley has grabbed headlines for all the wrong reasons this season.

The former champions were expected to make a large impact in this year’s tournament and have failed to do so. Losing has repercussions beyond the game, both for the team and coach Dan Hurley.

It is a kick in the face for the legendary coach who had led the Huskies to two back-to-back national titles. Regardless of the struggles that he had been facing this season, there is no doubt that he’s one of the best coaches in college basketball as of now. So for him to get overlooked is a big deal.

But it’s not just Hurley that’s missing. Both UNC head coach Hubert Davis, and Kentucky’s Mark Pope have both been left out of the list. It is not new for the Huskies coach to be looked over, especially after the new book that is coming his way.

“Never Stop: Life, Leadership, and What It Takes to Be Great” is the title that Dan Hurley decided on. It details his journey from being the son of a legendary high school basketball coach, to being one of the best coaches to ever see the sport.

The book deals with heavy topics like mental health struggles. Hurley is brave to come out and share his experiences with the world in such a way, and fans cannot be more proud of him! Everyone is hoping for a last minute comeback from Dan Hurley’s team, and it remains to be seen whether that is possible.
