Steph Curry had a very rough start to the NBA season. Despite dropping 20 points in his return to the NBA after 9 months, he and his Golden State Warriors fell to a 26 point loss to the Brooklyn Nets. Watching Kevin Durant make his Nets debut alongside Kyrie Irving must have been a hard sight for Steph, as his running mate was on the sidelines.

Klay Thompson missed all of last season with an ACL tear. As expectations for the new season mounted with the Warriors also getting the second overall draft pick, Thompson tore his Achilles while playing pick-up basketball.

Klay put up a very emotional message on Instagram prior to the Warriors’ opening game this season.

Steph Curry ended up sharing the post with a very simple message. It read ‘miss you dawg’. Curry and Thompson have been teammates ever since Thompson was drafted in 2011. They have won three championships together and will forever be remembered as one of the greatest shooting back-courts in NBA history.

Steph Curry: Can he do it by himself?

This is the first time that the responsibility to carry a team has fallen on Curry’s shoulders. Up until now, he had players like Klay, Draymond Green, and Andre Iguodala to share the load, and then even Kevin Durant joined the fray. However, the world is now two years in the future. Dray and Klay are hurt, Iguodala went to the Finals with the Miami Heat, and Kevin Durant just beat the Warriors playing for the Nets.

Steph Curry is the only player in NBA history to win an MVP trophy unanimously. However, many have said that Curry has benefitted because of the talent that eventually came around him. With his current teammates bricking open shots, it showed how heavy the load on Steph can be.

Klay unlocks Steph just as much as Steph unlocks Klay. No two players have had this kind of synergy on the court, and hopefully fans will be able see it again soon.
