Bogdan Bogdanovic was destined to change the fortunes of the Milwaukee Bucks until a clerical error revealed that Bogdanovic wasn’t actually eligible to be traded from the Sacramento Kings. That is because Bogdan is yet to sign an offer sheet for his next contract.

Getting Bogdan on the open-market will be much harder for Milwaukee, especially with the salary demands revealed by Brian Windhorst of ESPN.

“The word on the street, I always have to be careful of this because I get in trouble, the word on the street is he thinks he can get an offer, or there’s belief that there’s offers out there that average $18 million per year.

“Somewhere in the four-year, $72 million range. That, I think a lot of people think would come from Atlanta.”

He added, “I think the most Milwaukee can do is something closer to the $15 million to $16 million per year range. Over four years, that’s $8 million or $9 million, depending on where all the decimal points go.

“That’s not an insignificant amount of money.”

Bogdan Bogdanovic manages to ruin the Bucks’ off-season?

If you told anyone that Bogdanovic will be the reason Giannis Antetokounmpo leaves Milwaukee a few weeks ago, you would have been laughed at. However, this massive show of incompetence by the Bucks front office will leave a sour taste in Giannis’ mouth.

Bogdanovic would have made Milwaukee the most dangerous team in the East. It also would have made them a lot more dangerous as title contenders. However, Bogdanovic has no obligation to go to the Bucks.

If he can get a massive long-term contract, he should sign that. COVID has created question marks over how these players will be paid. It is best for him to secure his money now.

A team like the Atlanta Hawks could very well swoop in for Bogdanovic. They have a lot of cap space and a free-shooting team where Bogdan would fit in perfectly. While a backcourt of him and Trae Young would be exposed defensively, they will make one hell of an offensive tandem.

Milwaukee needs to pray that they can get Bogdanovic or a player of equivalent value. If that doesn’t happen, it will be interesting to see how Giannis takes it.
