819,684 was the total number of votes for WNBA stars Caitlin Clark and Sabrina Ionescu for the All-Star game. The Fever rookie stood on top of the list with 700,735 while the Liberty veteran was looked at 118,949 votes. Even though both of them are taking part in the game, their decision to decline participation in a particular contest from the WNBA has puzzled fans. The league announced that Clark and Ionescu have opted out which the 15x NBA All-Star, was not at all happy about.

Kevin Garnett took to Instagram to speak out about his annoyance not only about the players. Using the post from theScore, where the caption was, “No Caitlin Clark OR Sabrina Ionescu?! 👀” the post was seemingly looking for opinions and obviously, ‘The Big Ticket’ provided his. “Y NOT🤔 💯,” he wrote on his Instagram story.
Continuing his dislike for the rejection from Clark and Ionescu, Kevin Garnett asked multiple questions. “SEE…THIS THE BS I’M TALKING ABOUT !! PLS TELL US Y NOT? TF WE DOING?🙄🙄🙄😤 💯” Although there was no reason mentioned on the official post, a senior writer reported the issue for one of the athletes.

“Ionescu is taking part in the Olympic camp which is getting ready for the Paris Games.” Doug Feinberg tweeted on X, that the WNBA had sent the invite which was rejected. The official reason for Clark missing out is not yet revealed, however, a tight schedule could be the possible reason.
According to Chloe Peterson, writer for Indystarsports, “CC already has a packed weekend, and this could’ve just been something she wanted off her plate.” Even though both Clark and Ionescu have been electric from the 3-point line, their responses regarding the contest weren’t thrilling at all.

On the 3-pointers made list, both guards were tied with a 2.8 average. When Clark was asked about her participation, she said “I don’t know.” She spoke to The Athletic, and added, “My focus is on this game tonight and then we’ll turn to All-Star then after that.” Similarly, Ionescu said, “I don’t know man. My shot’s not been that great. So, I might have to pass.”
With over 17,000 people expected to visit the Footprint Center in Phoenix for the All-Star game, it is interesting to note that for the past two seasons; the game was never sold out.
Last year, Sabrina Ionescu in action, set the stage on fire by connecting 25 of her last 26 shots in the final round. She also featured in the first-ever NBA vs WNBA 3-Point Contest, where Ionescu took on the challenge from Stephen Curry and lost by just 3 points.
No doubt, fans would miss the extra day of great hooping skills from Caitlin Clark and Sabrina Ionescu. And it’s right on Kevin Garnett and the fans part of express their dislike over the decision.
