As per reports by the Miami New Times, Sheana allegedly scammed two federal pandemic relief loan programs. As stated by South Florida federal prosecutors, a former staffing specialist for the Miami Police Department, Sheana submitted fake applications for the Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) program on July 6, 2020. As per the report, Haslem also prepared a fake application that showed her to be the owner of a hair-and-nail salon business with 15 employees that generated a gross income of $90,000 from January 31, 2019, to January 31, 2020. That was followed by another fake application for a PPP loan. The false application to the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) was submitted on February 27, 2021, for another “security officer” business. The report on the case reads, “That fraudulent Schedule C falsely claimed that Haslem’s business had a gross income of $102,874, no expenses, and a net profit of $102,874.”

The aftermath of the case

Starting in March 2020, these PPP loans were entirely waivered and were provided to businesses to recover the loss faced due to COVID-19. Haslem earned about $21,000 in PPP loan money and a total of $31,000. As sources suggest, she might receive a penalty of 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine. Several names from the South Florida police department have also surfaced. The date for her sentence is decided to be on May 28 in the Southern District of Florida.

The Miami Heat champion hasn’t mentioned his family much in his interviews. So, there haven’t been many details on his relationship with his sister and family. Born to parents Debra Haslem and Johnnie Haslem, the 3x champion has five siblings. One of his siblings is Sheana Haslem. The champion himself was once involved in a legal issue. He was one of the numerous celebrities who endorsed a certain cryptocurrency platform, called FTX.
