Some remember Kevin Garnett as the defensive disruptor who terrorized NBA offenses. On Friday night, his fiercest challenge played out on a volleyball court in Calabasas—tracking his daughter’s spikes rather than guarding a perimeter. Clad in a simple hoodie adorned with two clothespins, he watched every roll shot with the intensity of a playoff close‑out game. This isn’t pageantry; it’s a wordless pact between father and daughter.

At one of Kapri’s recent volleyball games, Garnett was spotted wearing two tiny clothespins clipped to his hoodie. Being no stranger to pre-game rituals, he posted a story on social media. He wrote, “I got clipped … said it was a good luck!!”  It’s their thing, a good luck charm – a symbol of connection that says, “I’m here, I’ve got you” without a single word. And in its latest iteration, his love for her was on full display during her birthday celebrations.

Kevin Garnett took to social media and posted a story on Instagram. The story featured a video showing the joyous celebrations of Kapri’s 17th birthday. In the video, her close friends and family were seen singing ‘Happy Birthday’ to her. Garnett captioned the post “Birthday vibes 💯[salute emoji] 😍😍🎂🎉🎊🎉🥳” adding fatherly joy to the occasion.

Kapri Garnett: Forging her own legacy on the volleyball court

While her last name carries the weight of NBA greatness, Kapri Garnett is carving out her own path. One that doesn’t involve a basketball. The daughter of Hall of Famer Kevin Garnett, Kapri has chosen the hardwood of the volleyball court instead, showcasing that athletic greatness runs deep in the Garnett bloodline.

An imposing 6 feet 3-4 inches tall, Kapri plays as a right-side hitter with Campbell Hall High School’s varsity volleyball team in Calabasas, California. Her combination of height, skill, and court IQ makes her a force to be reckoned with. During the 2022–23 season, she notched 16 kills and posted a 31.4% kill percentage in just 24 sets. That’s just a glimpse into the dominance she brings to the net.
