It is not the first time Dwight Howard’s relationship issues have aired on the internet. This time, it’s his wife, Amy Luciani, who was uncontrollably crying in a video and alleged that the former NBA player had manipulated their kids, which even led to the involvement of Child Protective Services. The couple had tied the knot in February last year, but by July, Luciani filed for divorce. A few months later, the two appeared to have reconciled, and it was another fallout from that decision that led to a streak of worrying family incidents.

“My stepdaughter was just taken by CPS because of her father,” Luciani said in a now-deleted Instagram video. “CPS and the police have been here three times in less than three months. “I stood in it with my husband, even though I was scared for my own self, whatever he wanted me to say, whatever it was, I am thinking this is my husband.”

“Even after I tried to divorce him the first time, everybody around me said, ‘You can’t leave your husband so soon,'” Luciani explained as she cried. “But this is going way too far. It’s not even about me. It’s about the kids, the stuff that I have to go through with it.”

Luciani struggled to speak about what had happened inside the confines of her home over the last few months. In another clip, the internet personality posted an audio recording of a conversation with Howard’s son. Luciani alleged that the former NBA player was “coaching our son to lie on me.”

“I know Daddy made you lie on me to the police,” Luciani said, and the reply was positive.

There is more to this controversy.

Luciani also pulled out a container and poured some white powder onto her palm, further narrating the story.

“This is what I’m f—— losing my marriage to, this s— right here,” Luciani explained. “I was gonna leave him, but everybody told me, ‘Don’t leave him. He’s struggling.’ I stay, but not this year.”

Luciani revealed that people close to the former NBA player knew about the issue and asked her not to end the marriage. The couple had eventually reconciled, sharing cozy, love-filled images on Instagram. One of the previous posts from her read, “Quitting was too easy. Aht ahtttttt enemy!”

Before coming back together, Luciani had already allegedly claimed that Howard tried to give her a herbal tea laced with a drug. She claimed Howard exhibited controlling behavior and emotional intimidation, saying, “Whenever my husband gets upset, he locks me out of our home.”

But Howard’s attorney, Gillian B. Fierer, refuted any such claims, calling them “patently false.”

“[Dwight] emphatically denies [Luciani’s] claims,” she stated.

The court initially granted a temporary protective order, but Luciani later chose to withdraw the case. Until now, the NBA Hall of Famer has not responded to the current allegations.

Dwight Howard’s other former partners have revealed worrying family issues in the past

At the end of 2024, Dwight Howard’s ex-girlfriend, Royce Reed, created an Instagram account called “ihadababybysuperman.” The former Orlando Magic cheerleader had a son, Braylon Howard, in 2007. In one of the videos, she accused the NBA player of spreading lies and physically threatening her. Let’s not forget that the son himself had previously called out his father for his absence, which the three-time DPOY categorically denied.

In fact, the former couple was in a legal battle, as Reed confirmed that Howard had issued a cease-and-desist notice. While his career on the court produced a championship and Hall of Fame status, Howard’s off-court troubles are not new. The former Lakers star has five kids from five different partners.

His other ex, Tiffany Render, the mother of Layla, has been fighting in court since November 2023, when Howard filed a petition for full custody. Even she alleged that the former NBA player used any means necessary to win sole custody of their daughter.
