NBA Analyst likens Kawhi Leonard to Michael Jordan

Hoops Tonight host, Jason Timpf will present his argument whether you agree or not. He can stir up a discussion and he’s certainly done that now. This time he’s made a case for comparing Kawhi Leonard to Michael Jordan. Now this gets a bit tricky. The Clippers made a blockbuster trade to create the Kawhi Leonard Paul George tandem on their team. But injuries have put a damper on the title-winning dreams.

Now they are subjects of the trade rumor mill with doubts about Leonard’s ability to win a third championship. Timpf’s analysis on Leonard comes during this speculation. There’s not been enough from Leonard in the recent season to make a comparison but he sees the potential.

Timpf started by saying The Klaw‘s claim to fame was being projected as the next Kobe Bryant as a two-way scorer. He is undoubtedly a strong opponent on the court who made scoring very difficult for the opposing team.

To convey his stance, he said he would describe Kawhi Leonard to a newbie NBA fan as follows. “He’s kind of like a bigger, stronger, but more ground-bound version of Michael Jordan.”

Some people might find that comparison sacrilegious. But Timpf is not the only one who’s noticed Leonard’s MJ quality. Even his on-court partner sees it.

Paul George has a similar take on his teammate

Before His Airness sold his stake in the Charlotte Hornets, PG13 looked forward to playing against the team just so he could fanboy over Michael Jordan. During an All-Star Weekend, Jordan himself came up to George and gave him some encouraging words.

His hands was big as hell, like almost like some Kawhi sh*t, big as hell,” Paul George gushed. If you’re familiar with NBA lore, Leonard earned the nickname, The Klaw for his big hands. He’s known to use his size to his advantage, Leonard displays impeccable mid-range game.

That’s a lot like Jordan using his athletic physicality to his advantage. “He plays like an old-school two-guard,” Timpf says about Leonard.

He adds that his versatility made it easy to build a team around him. Those who agree with Timpf only wish that Kawhi gets more time on the floor to prove his critics wrong.
