Dennis Rodman last featured in the NBA for the Dallas Mavericks in the year 2000. From being kicked out of the house at 19 to being the bad boy of NBA, there was never a dull moment with Rodman. He played a major role in the Chicago Bulls‘ team three-peat and was one of the main first team players. Unfortunately, after winning the three peat with the Chicago Bulls and moving to the Mavericks, he was not aware that he was coming to the end of his NBA career.

Previously, he opened on the time when he wanted to get back to the NBA but was met with ill-luck.

Dennis Rodman’s failed return to the NBA

The five-time champion wanted to be back in the NBA playing his best basketball. He reached out to the godfather of the NBA Magic Johnson in a bid to make a return to the NBA. Johnson did get him back on the court, but it was not for any major NBA outfit.

Rodman was told that if he wants to make a return to the then $426 million worth Los Angeles Lakers, he needs to swallow his pride. The Worm featured for a minor league team in the American Basketball Association in order to prove that he still has some ball left inside of him. He realized he needed to start playing for Long Beach Jam and hope that someone in the Lakers gets injured in order to make a return. Luckily for him, Karl Malone was out due to a gruesome injury, but Rodman was never called for his services. Rodman was a hit in the ABA as over 4000 people came to witness the five-time champion.

His stint with the Mavericks was his last one in the uppermost echelon of the game. Rodman, who was used to play in front of almost 20,000 people, had to play in front of a relatively smaller bunch.

The Worm was denied a special request in Dallas

Dennis Rodman previously revealed that he was denied a special request by the NBA. Rodman was ready to step on the court when he got stopped by the officials and was told to change his jersey number. Instead, Rodman was given the jersey no. 70. However, it seems that Rodman did make a jersey with the number 69 etched on it. Although the jersey did not make it to the court, a replica of the same can be spotted hanging inside Mark Cuban’s office.

Dennis Rodman might have failed to script a dream comeback. But there is no way one can deny the flair that he brought into the game with his outrageous antics.
