Vanessa Bryant is making good use of her girls’ trip. The late legend Kobe Bryant‘s family recently flew to New York for a break, having Venessa share a clip of the joyous time. Alongside their adventures exploring New York, shooting hoops also seemed to be part of their schedule. Bryant’s third eldest was introduced to her father’s legacy and for this special encounter, Vanessa chose the right mentor. Kobe’s former mentee and Gigi’s mentor Sabrina Ionescu joined Bianca for a basketball session.

After Kobe, it was Gigi who shared the same passion for basketball. Naturally, the WNBA star had a strong bond with Bryant’s daughter; even honoring her with a bracelet during a 3-point competition. The session, thus, only highlighted the 2X WNBA All-Star’s continued familial connection with the Bryants.

The Oregon alum shares a great bond with Bryant’s eldest Natalia too. Both Vanessa and Natalia were present at Ionescu’s wedding. The basketball star tied the knot with NFL player Hroniss Grasu in March this year. “Congratulations to Sabrina and Hronnis!’Such a beautiful couple. Wishing you both the very best, always!” Vanessa wrote on her Instagram to congratulate the couple.

After the tragic passing of the Los Angeles Lakers legend and Gigi in the accident in January 2020, Ionescu has continued to remain close to the family. “I carry Kobe and Gigi with me every day and honor their legacies through my dedication to the game,” Ionescu said during the memorial service held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

Ionescu has always mentioned Bryant’s enthusiasm to support women’s basketball. Both Bryant and Gigi were often spotted courtside to watch her game. As a girl dad and NBA champ, Kobe did everything in his power to elevate women’s sports. In his absence, Sabrina, Caitlin Clark, and others continue to carry on his legacy.
