The West is once again competitive as predicted, as teams like Houston Rockets and San Antonio Spurs are battling to sustain their place in the rankings. San Antonio recorded some good wins with tough defense, but they’re struggling to do it in a consistent manner. Now, they play against the Houston Rockets, who look all tidy on both ends of the court after a major roster change. 

This will be the third meeting between these two teams in the 2021 regular-season and the series is tied at 1-1, making Saturday’s game a tie-breaker.

The Rockets have won six of their last seven games, and the team looks much confident now than they were at the beginning of the transition. Christian Wood has been the chief contributor after James Harden’s departure, but a nasty ankle sprain has the star center sidelined for at least a few weeks. 

Wood’s second ankle injury in three weeks is a big blow for the Rockets, and the team also has John Wall (back spasms) on the questionable list for the Spurs game. Similarly, 28-year-old David Nwaba (ankle) is doubtful as well.

The Spurs have also been affected by injuries, which have played a major part in disrupting the team’s momentum. As they head into the Rockets game, two of their starters aren’t playing, and one more is listed as questionable for the game. 

LaMarcus Aldrige’s hip soreness is expected to keep him out for multiple games, which isn’t a good sign for the Spurs. Furthermore, Lonnie Walker IV will not take part due to illness, and Dejounte Murray is on the day-to-day list.

Prediction

This will be an exciting western conference game between two sides who are not far away in terms of their season record. The Houston Rockets have one game in hand against the San Antonio Spurs and a victory for the Rockets would improve their record to 12-10, which will put them ahead of the Spurs. 

DeMar DeRozan has been rallying his team to perform better, and the Spurs are indeed a promising team. However, the Rockets might just outplay them when they face each other. The recent results have been impressive, and we predict Houston to take the win against San Antonio.
