As a comedy award show, the Golden Raspberry Awards (also known as Razzies) were created to recognize cinema’s worst performances. It was co-founded by UCLA film graduates John J. B. Wilson and Mo Murphy. Over the years, many high-profile celebrities have been nominated for these awards. This time, one of the greatest basketball players of all time was on the shortlist for the award.

There were two well-known names in the announcement for the 42nd Golden Raspberry Awards 2022, American actor and musician Jared Leto and Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James.

James has won many awards on the court through his tremendous performances. This time, however, it is an award in a different industry. It appears that this award cannot be displayed in the row of his achievements. He was nominated in the category of “worst actor” for “Space Jam: A New Legacy.” And he ended up winning it.

It’s not a great time for James at this point, as James’ team is struggling in the season’s championship and don’t look like a unit, and now winning the award may be too much for him.

The result of James being the lead actor in this film might seem like he doesn’t belong in the acting business. In addition to that, the film won a few other awards, including worst screen combo and worst remake, spin-off, or sequel. 

LeBron James, the star of the Lakers, won the worst actor award

Out of the total of four nominations, they were able to secure three wins. The film was nominated for Worst Picture, but couldn’t make it through, losing to Diana The Musical. Although James is not the only recipient of this award, he has certainly become the new winner after so many years.

In 1997, Dennis Rodman took home three awards for his movie Double Team, which included Worst Supporting Actor and Worst New Star. Not to forget that Shaquille O’Neal won the award for Worst Actor in Steel the same year.

It is only fair that another NBA superstar receives the award. Space Jam 2 was not his first outing as an actor. ‘King James’ not so long ago appeared in Trainwreck and received heavy praise for his role. However, for Space Jam, most people criticized the movie and James’s performance. 

The movie received high reviews primarily because Michael Jordan appeared in the first part, followed by LeBron. The movie grossed around $162.8 million at the box office. But there were some critics that followed the movie closely.
