For the greater part, basketball is a peaceful sport. While there is intensity and competition, it doesn’t often result in physical altercations. However, there are always exceptions. Similarly, the NBL in Australia saw a situation where a former NBA champion was at the receiving end of a ferocious poster. However, his teammates did not like it and almost started a whole fight with the other team.

Matthew Dellavedova had his run in the NBA. He won a championship with LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers. Since then, injuries have come down on him. Looking at this scenario, he decided to go back home and play in Australia’s NBL.

After becoming the recipient of one of the meanest poster dunks by Mitch Creek, Dellavedova’s teammates pushed him down and caused a near-fight scene as both teams came in.

Former NBA champion almost starts fight after being posterized

Dellavedova joined Melbourne United in the NBL and it was only the second game of the season. Coming off a loss, they were determined to get a win. Hence, as they were trailing, Dellavedova tried to defend a two on one fast break. However, Mitch Creek took advantage and put Dellavedova on a mean poster.

While Creek was celebrating, Dellavedova’s teammates came in from behind and pushed Creek down.

This left Creek furious as he went right up to them. Both teams came in as well trying to cool off the situation. They all went into the stands and were shortly separated. It was unnecessary for the teammates to push Creek, who was only celebrating his dunk.

While he did stand over Dellavedova for a few seconds, the brawl seemed to be too much.

A similar thing happened in the NBA where a dunk did not leave Westbrook as a happy customer. After OKC made a comeback and had a clear win, Darius Bazley got a steal. Instead of dribbling the ball out, he went ahead and took it for an easy slam. This angered Westbrook, who confronted Bazley and exchanged some heated words.

After the game, Westbrook said he doesn’t like things like that and he had to send that message across.
