The NBA playoffs always match the best against the best. And in Dallas, the Mavericks and Utah Jazz are in a battle to take the lead. With the series all level at 2 apiece, the Mavericks have come out dominating in Game 5. With Luka’s initial return not going in his favor, the All-Star has his eyes set to take the lead. And he is letting no one stop him from doing so. Not even three-time Defensive Player of The Year, Rudy Gobert.

Doncic was on the sidelines for the first three games of the series against the Jazz. While the Mavericks were supposed to be in a tough spot, Jalen Brunson stepped in. The replacement guard took control like no one expected and took Dallas to a 2-1 lead in the 3 game span without Luka. On his return in Game 4, Doncic did not miss a beat dropping 30 points. However, Gobert and Donovan Mitchell combined for a lob pass to put the game away.

Luka Doncic schools Jazz center Rudy Gobert

The Mavericks came out strong in a crucial Game 5 against the Utah Jazz. With a commanding lead set, Doncic kept the energy alive. He took on the former DPOY, Gobert and came out on top. Taking him into the paint, Doncic hypnotized Gobert with a series of fakes before drawing the contact. After knocking down the shot, Doncic made his feelings about Rudy guarding him clear.

The Slovenian star said, “He can’ guard me.” And up until this point, it seems no Jazz player can stop Doncic in his path.

Doncic is going nuclear against his opposition as he matched his previous game’s tally in just three quarters. The 23-year-old has already gathered 30 points, 12 rebounds, and 4 assists. Jalen Brunson is shining bright as well with 20 points and 3 assists next to his name. Finney Smith has provided some crucial contributions as well with 13 points and 5 rebounds and the Mavericks are up 55-81 after three quarters.

The Utah Jazz have gone stone cold in an almost must-win Game 5. Their focal offensive player, Donovan Mitchell is struggling to make a shot as he is shooting just 4-14 so far. Rudy Gobert and Jordan Clarkson are the only Jazz player to score in double digits in the game. Jazz never got a grip on the game losing every quarter so far. With a mountain to climb in front of them, this game is surely out of reach for Utah.
