The Los Angeles Lakers cruised to their fourth straight win since the All-Star break, and it was once again LeBron James, who stole the show. The four-time MVP guided the Lakers to a comfortable victory over the Charlotte Hornets and later praised rookie LaMelo Ball for his standout performance.

James and Ball each top-scored for their teams on Thursday. One is a 36 YO veteran, while the other is a rookie who is looking like he’s catching up with the intensity of the league pretty fast.

LeBron James chipped in with a few comments on LaMelo Ball after the game and highly praised the rookie who finished with 26 points, five rebounds, and seven assists in his first career regular-season game against the Los Angeles Lakers. 

“He’s damn good to be his age. His speed, his quickness, his ability to you know make shots at all facets in the paint, floaters, threes, he has a three-tier already,” James hailed Ball.

LeBron James gives a shoutout to LaMelo and elder brother Lonzo Ball

LeBron James is currently one of the most experienced players in the league. The Los Angeles Lakers superstar is currently in his 18th year, a feat that not every NBA athlete can boast about. Hence, he is always asked to give his views on current rookies who are showing similar promise to what he did during the 2003-04 season.

LaMelo clearly is the favorite to win the 2021 Rookie of the Year award, as he’s already proven that he is a talent for the future. Fans have been thoroughly pleased with his impact, and LeBron James thinks it runs in the family.

“He’s going to only get better every game. It’s a learning experience for him. He’s going to get better and better as the season goes on, as his career goes on, and so on and so on so,” James said about Ball. “Him and [Lonzo Ball], they’re two just very unique players in our league and they showcase out every night.”

LaMelo Ball is living up to everyone’s expectations after arriving as the third overall pick in the 2021 NBA Draft. He’s currently averaging 16.0 points and 6.2 assists per game and the Charlotte Hornets are currently looking to break into a winning record.
