March Madness is well and truly underway. The teams have entered the final stages of the famed tournament with the sweet 16  ending in major heartbreaks. One of the best games in the sweet 16 was between the University of North Carolina and the University of California.

While everyone expected the UCLA Bruins to get past the North Carolina Tar Heels, a clutch performance from UNC ruined their plans. Interestingly enough, Caleb Love, the player who ensured the victory had a memorable moment during the match and the coach was all praises for him.

UNC beats UCLA in March Madness

The UCLA Bruins are one of the most successful teams in March Madness. They have won the historic tournament 10 times in the past and they looked to get to the Elite Eight this time around. The Tar Heels had other plans in mind.

Led by Caleb Love, UNC registered an epic victory over the Bruins. Despite leading the match with two minutes remaining on the clock, Caleb Love’s three-pointer knocked the Bruins out.

The match ended in heartbreak for UCLA as they lost the match to the UNC Tar Heels in a close 73-66 match. With this epic performance, Caleb Love has already registered himself as one of the standouts in March Madness. While the Bruins go back home, UNC takes on 15th seed Saint Peter’s in the next stage of the tournament.

UNC coach reacts to the match

Although Love’s three-pointer may have made the difference, it is not the only thing that made headlines. Interestingly enough, fans noticed that Love changed his shoes at halftime, and apparently, the coach knew nothing about it.

Speaking about the match, former Chicago Bulls player Hubert Davis was all praises for Caleb. According to him, “ I didn’t even know he switched shoes. I don’t think it was just the shoes, I just think that Caleb played really well.

He added, “You know, one of the things that I said is that in big-time games like this, it has nothing to do about coaching. It is about players stepping up and making plays and everybody that played made plays and Caleb made a lot.”

While the Tar Heels face one of the underdogs in the next round, it certainly won’t be easy. Moreover, the fans are looking forward to an epic encounter between UNC and Duke in the Semi Finals.
