The Sweet 16 of the NCAA tournament got off to a wild start on Thursday. And the biggest upset of the tournament happened at the Chase Center as the No 1 seed and tournament favorites Gonzaga lost to number 4 seed Arkansas. Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry was also in the building for the upset.

Gonzaga were the favorites to go through, but their journey came to an end as Arkansas held the Bulldogs in check and limited most of their key players to win. Arkansas will now face either Duke or Texas Tech in the Elite Eight. Curry who is out due to injury attended the game and did not travel with his team for a road trip, was in attendance as the Bulldogs got bounced out of the tournament. He was locked in as Arkansas pulled the upset of the year.

The number 4 seed Arkansas had never won against a number 1 seed in the previous 10 attempts. But that changed today as they upset the Bulldogs 74-68.JD Notae led the team with 21 points while Jaylin Williams and Trey Wade each had 15 points. For Gonzaga All-American, Drew Timme ended with 25 points, seven rebounds, and three assists. Meanwhile, his fellow All-American Chet Holmgren got into foul trouble and was out of the game with only 23 minutes. He ended with 11 points,14 rebounds and 2 blocks .
The Bulldogs were the favorites for two seasons in a row, but they have lost both times to a more physical team. Mark Few’s squad was undefeated last year, but they lost to Baylor in the finals to Baylor in the national title game. This was a golden opportunity to the NCAA title, but the Bulldogs blew it again and they will have to do it all over again next year.
