NBA superstar LeBron James is almost always on the highlight-reel for his insane plays on the court. The 18-time All-Star and four-time NBA champion will likely go down as one of the best players to ever play the game in the history books as well.  

‘The King’ is in the news for all the things he does off the court as well. Known to be an amazing businessman, LeBron James makes sure to give back to the community whenever he can. 

LeBron James talks about giving back with Trevor Noah

On the show, ‘NBA Players Giving Back’, James talked about how it was for him growing up and attending school. James is the founder of The LeBron James Family Foundation which works with the community. The Los Angeles Lakers superstar talked about how if kids get behind in the third grade, statistically, they are most likely to not graduate high school. 

While talking to Trevor Noah on the show, Noah mentioned how James records messages for kids to inspire them to stay in school. And to that James mentioned how some kids would try to be slick and miss school to get a message from LeBron James.

LeBron James mentioned that he would show up to school and say, “Listen, I know what you’re trying now. I was a kid at one point too”. 

Trevor Noah went on to praise James for what he was trying to do for these kids. He was not only trying to get them through the third grade but all the way to a college education. LeBron James also happened to mention that apart from programs for kids, his foundation helps parents attain a GED as well.

As the show went on, Noah jokingly said whether LeBron James did this out of guilt because of some kids planning to go to the NBA right after high school. For those who do not know, James made his NBA debut directly after high school and decided to skip college. To this, LeBron said, ‘I’ve had kids say, well Mr. James you want us to go to college but I read something about you that didn’t go”.

Noah and James then went on to joke about the conversation James has had with kids over the years. But apart from being an NBA superstar and future NBA legend, LeBron James is a humanitarian as well. And always makes sure to work with the community to give back something to it. 

At 37 years of age, James is still undoubtedly an absolute force on the hardwood floor and does not look like slowing down anytime soon.
