Kobe Bryant and his demise left a huge mark on the entire world. An unfortunate helicopter crash took away the life of 9 people, including Kobe and his daughter, Gianna, on 26 January 2020.

Moreover, this happened just before the live telecast of the Grammys. As soon as the news regarding the crash started doing the rounds on the internet and TV, the world and the celebrities attending the Grammys took a collective gasp.

Singer John Batiste, who was present during the ceremony, gave his thoughts regarding Kobe’s demise. He talked about how the tragedy made everyone sad and the entire atmosphere of the Grammys turned mournful.

Batiste said, “With all the greatness that he left in the world, it seemed like he had so much more to go. All the people who were on the helicopter, and his daughter, who had so much promise, just kind of hit us at one time. It was kind of hard to celebrate at the Grammys. Everyone was in a very mournful, reflective mood amongst the great celebration.”

The Grammy dress rehearsals were underway when the initial reports broke out. Interestingly enough, the show took place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, which was Kobe’s home throughout his playing career. The show kicked off with a tribute to Kobe by Alicia Keys and Boyz II Men.

Kobe Bryant is often regarded as one of the best players to ever play in the NBA. He has won 5 NBA titles with the Los Angles Lakers, along with numerous individual accolades.

Moreover, his influence on the game is unmatched. Players like Jayson Tatum, Devin Booker, and DeMar DeRozan are perfect examples of Bryant’s immense influence.

He played for the Lakers his whole life and was the 13th pick in the first round of the 1996 draft. Bryant retired in 2016, averaging 25.0 points, 4.7 assists, and 5.2 rebounds. The Lakers legend is an 18-time All-Star, 2 times Scoring Champ, and is also a 2-time Finals MVP.
