While he might be one of the best players on the basketball court, he still needs to do his part in the household responsibilities. Talking in an interview, Steph’s mother, Sonya, revealed how she made sure he missed a game because Steph did not finish his household chores.

Stephen Curry missed a game for not doing the chores

While Stephen Curry might have received his shooting skills from his dad, he definitely got the discipline from his mom. In a recent interview, Sonya Curry talked about Stephen and Seth’s childhood.

When asked about an infamous incident revolving around Steph and his household chores, Sonya agreed with the interviewer. Apparently, Curry wasn’t allowed to attend a middle school basketball game for missing the household chores.

She said, ” We only work as a family if everybody does their part. It’s not my job to do everything for everybody. You had to train them to make them understand and so if one thing didn’t work at home, it affected all the other things outside.”

Now this explains where both the Curry brothers got their discipline from. Being a former volleyball star herself, Sonya Curry knows all about the importance of discipline in sports.

Who is Sonya Curry?

Sonya Adams Curry attended the Radford High School, where she stood out both as a basketball and volleyball player. Unlike her future family members, she decided to pursue volleyball rather than basketball. She joined Virginia Tech as a volleyball player, where she met her future husband, Dell Curry.

Sonya tied the knot with Dell in 1988, and shortly after gave birth to Stephen Curry. The couple had two more children in Seth and their only daughter, Sydel Curry.

Interestingly enough, when the two Curry brothers faced off against each other during the 2019 playoffs, the couple rooted for the Portland Trail Blazers and Seth Curry. However, Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors came out on top during the matchup.
