There has been news about the expansion for some time

The NBA commissioner Adam Silver has talked about the possibility of expansion for some time now, but he hadn’t confirmed anything yet. He had said that Seattle and Las Vegas were both great markets and they had state-of-the-art arenas. But he also said that this was not at the forefront for the league.

One of the reasons was to keep the league competitive. He said that if the league expands, the talent will be diluted more than it is now. And another issue would be convincing the team’s governors from a 30-way split to a 32-way split. It will be very interesting to see what Silver and the league do in the next few years.
