Young LaMelo Ball has become a breakout star in the league. At the age of 20, he is already a trusted rookie at the Charlotte Hornets. Head coach James Borrego will look to exploit his resources to the fullest, in order to have a successful outing. The Michael Jordan owned franchise is long-due for an above par season, and the 2021-22 campaign provides hope. And Ball believes he was destined to shine at Charlotte.
A massive Michael Jordan fan, LaMelo Ball was picked by the Hornets as their 3rd overall buy in the 2020 NBA Draft. He plays as a point guard, and has a knack for finding spaces and releasing accurate shots. In the season gone by, the Hornets‘#2 amassed close to 16 points on average. Yet, the franchise falls prey in the key match-ups, and just about sneaked into the top-10 last year. But LaMelo is going nowhere, and is hellbent on giving it his all for Jordan’s team.

LaMelo feels he was destined to play for Michael Jordan and the Hornets
A while ago, coach Borrego had invited LaMelo over for a meal. The duo spoke extensively, and shared a lovely time. The then teen sensation was delighted at being picked by a team who had such a magnanimous owner. As a player, ‘MJ’ was the gold standard of basketball genetics. Everyone looked up to him, and wanted to emulate his success. Ball was no different, and was determined to succeed under Jordan the owner.

In a recent interview, the 2021 Rookie of the Year spoke about how all the stars aligned for him. “I feel like everything lines up,” quoted Ball with regard to his destiny. “I feel like I came here [Charlotte] for a reason, he [Michael Jordan] is the owner for a reason. Just everything lined up for real.” Coming from a family of basketball fanatics, playing for Jordan would’ve only maximized Ball’s excitement.
Can LaMelo Ball kick start a wondrous journey with the Hornets in 2021? Everyone associated with the setup, including Jordan, will be hoping so. The team begins its regular season against the Indiana Pacers.
