The young O’Neal felt greatly disrespected. He decided to have his revenge in an interesting way. Talking in an interview, Shaq described the dunk and how he brought down the rim shortly after. Interestingly enough, the 4 time NBA champion revealed that he brought down the rim on purpose to cancel the game.

Shaq said, “Like, I met him here and he moved the b*tch and he stretched out. Derrick Coleman got me on a drop-step left.” When asked whether he brought down the rim on purpose, O’Neal said, “Of course I did.”

The match happened in 1999 when the duo of Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O’Neal ripped apart the Knicks’ defense. Dudley looked to defend Shaq as the latter received a pass from Kobe. However, what proceeded next will forever be in NBA history. O’Neal dunked over Dudley disrespectfully, which resulted in one of his best dunks ever.
