Two of the biggest franchises in the NBA are the Boston Celtics and the Los Angeles Lakers. The two powerhouses are tied on 17 NBA titles each. The Lakers vs Celtics matchup has produced many memorable moments. One such moment was watching Kobe Bryant battle it out with Ray Allen.

While two of the best players in the league during their time battled on the court, the matchup always provided a treat for the fans. In a rare show of love for the Lakers, Ray Allen talks about getting the autograph of a Lakers legend in a recent interview and playing for them.

Until Stephen Curry broke his incredible record, Ray Allen was officially the best shooter the league has ever seen. He held the record for the most number of three-pointers by a player in NBA history. Allen spent the best part of his career with the Celtics, the rivals of the Lakers.

Talking in an interview, Allen talked about the Lakers and Kareem Abdul Jabbar. When asked about whether or not he wanted to be a Laker, Ray Allen had a lot to say. Allen said, ” I did. That was my first NBA game. I was 10, 12 years old in high school, my coach at the time said, I walk out of the court, and it’s the fabulous form at the time. They’re playing the Pistons and I think this was 1988.”
He added, “Bill Lambert’s shooting on one side, Kareem sky hooking on the other like its the first time ever I’ve seen an NBA player and he said, “I’ll give you $20 dollars if you go get Kareem’s autograph. I didn’t say yes, I didn’t say no.”

The two legends faced off against each other a whopping 50 times! Kobe Bryant has the edge over Allen with 29 wins, 23 in the regular season, and 6 in the playoffs. Bryant averages 25.1 points, 5.0 rebounds and 4.5 assists in the games played between the two.
