However, some people sacrifice their relationships and family ties just to be successful in their field. One such person happens to be an NFL legend, Shannon Sharpe. During a recent podcast appearance, Sharpe touched upon his Hall of Fame football career. Moreover, he also revealed the real reason why he has never married, which was noticed by NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal.

Sharpe was incredibly focused on his game and his career, which is why he never got married. This was touched upon by the former Undisputed Host in a podcast. A viral clip has been doing the rounds on Instagram which was liked by Shaquille O’Neal.

Sharpe said, “I would have loved to get married earlier in my career but my career was the most important, so I was no good. I was a terrible father, probably was a terrible brother, terrible son, I definitely was a terrible boyfriend. Football was the most important thing, I was consumed by that.”

He further added, “I was consumed with that because I wanted to get my grandmother, my family, out of the conditions that I grew up in. And I said if I had kids, I didn’t want them to spend one hour, let alone a year like I spent. So, I was focused on that, that was the only thing that mattered.”
Additionally, Sharpe mentioned that a lot of women were content with being the second priority after football. However, once they really saw how focused the NFL legend was, they grew uncomfortable.

Last but not least, Shannon Sharpe admitted that his massive $14 million net worth doesn’t mean anything if he doesn’t have anyone to share it with. After seven years with Undisputed, Sharpe left his $3 million job to explore other interests in life.
