The Los Angeles Lakers will face the Phoenix Suns in an important win or go match later tonight. The Suns have rallied down from a 2-1 deficit to take a 3-2 lead, and will hope to close out the series at the Staples Center. Chris Paul looks like a determined man to get past the Lakers in a bid to win his first NBA title. The Los Angeles-based franchise has injury troubles going into the series, as their key man, Anthony Davis, is still out with a groin injury, and doubtful for game 6.

Anthony Davis is key to the Lakers

During the recent episode of “Inside the NBA”, Charles Barkley stressed the influence of AD on the Lakers franchise. He told how the team had no chance to win without the “Brow”.

“I told you, the Lakers can’t win this series, forget about the championship. They can’t win this series without street clothes,” said Barkley.

The comic relief in the show is unique in its own way. But, Barkley is right in terms of Davis as to what he brings to the table. The Lakers look like a depleted squad without him as he is a potent offensive threat on the floor while also contributing in defense. However, they still have LeBron James on the court which might prove to be the difference.

Can the Lakers get past the Suns?

James has been his usual self in this series but he doesn’t look like a man who is motivated without Anthony Davis on the court. The importance of a secondary scorer in the team is key to their success. But players like Schroder and Harrell have not been up to the mark. The influence of AD on the court is incredible. He grabs rebounds, draws fouls, and scores a lot of points, which is key to the team.

In the four games he played, Davis averaged 21.8 points, and grabbed 8 rebounds. Significantly, he had 2 blocks per game which is the real statistic to look upon. AD is still suffering from the groin injury he picked in game 4 while coach Vogel hopes to get him back in the lineup.
