Ben Simmons, the Brooklyn Nets point guard, could not make his debut for the Nets this season. This was due to back issues that he had been suffering. Ben went through a back surgery recently to be fully fit for the next season. He might have not played, but he still made some cool bucks this offseason.

The three time NBA All-Star had put two of his houses on sale last year. The first, an immaculate condo at the Ritz-Carlton in Philly, went up for $3.1 million. Secondly, a single-family home in NJ was next, valued at a whopping $5 million. Recently, the single-family home in New Jersey finally found someone willing to pay the sum. This spring, the home in New Jersey found a buyer at $4.6 million. The six-bedroom residence was sold for $4.55 million in April.

The Philadelphia 76ers selected Ben Simmons as the first overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft. He couldn’t make his debut during the 2016-17 because of an injury, but finally suited up for the 76ers, starting from 2017 to 18. He was then a three time NBA All-Star from 2019 to 2021. Eventually, he signed a 5 year $167 million max extension in the summer of 2019 with the 76ers. But things have been going downhill for him since 2021.

The Ben – 76ers saga

During the 2020 NBA Playoffs, Ben Simmons suffered a knee injury which ended his season and kept him away from the 76ers playoff series. During the 2020-21 NBA season, the 76ers secured the number one seed in the Eastern Conference. They were the favorites to win their second series playoff series against the Atlanta Hawks. But then it all crumbled. The Hawks continued to foul Ben late in the fourth quarter and he couldn’t make his free throws. Things reached a boiling point when Ben passed on an open dunk against the Hawks in the game 7 of the series.

The offseason was full of drama for the 76ers and Ben. And eventually when the next season started, he refused to take part with the team, sighting mental health issues. Things never improved between the two parties and he was eventually traded to the Brooklyn Nets at the trade deadline for James Harden. Ben hasn’t played in over a year and we hope when he comes back he can reach his standards again.
