NBA superstar Stephen Curry is one of the toughest players to guard in the league. Although he is not physically imposing and he doesn’t possess incredible athleticism like some of the other players in the league, Curry still manages to dismantle defenses at will. One of the biggest reasons why the Golden State Warriors superstar is unguardable is that he never stops moving. Recently, NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal revealed how the Lakers can stop Steph Curry ahead of their upcoming matchup.

Like many other eminent voices around the world, Shaq asserted that Curry’s off-the-ball movement plays a huge role in his game. Moreover, he also drew an interesting analogy between Steph, Ray Allen, and Reggie Miller.

Shaquille O’Neal makes a bold Stephen Curry analogy

There have been numerous attempts to contain Stephen Curry over the years. Needless to say, most of them have ended in despair. On the latest episode of The Big Podcast with Shaq, the Los Angeles Lakers legend gave his two cents on the 2016 unanimous MVP.

According to Shaq, Curry is a mix of Reggie Miller and Ray Allen on drugs! Moreover, he also added his thoughts on how Curry’s off-the-ball movements make him ungaurdable.

Shaq said, “To answer your question, there’s no guarding Steph Curry because he’s a unique player. He plays like Reggie Miller and Ray Allen on Ecstasy. Like they never stopped but Steph never stops moving. So tonight, the fact that he can shoot, he can dribble like he never stops, when he doesn’t have the ball, that’s when he’s dangerous. When he has the ball, he is even more dangerous because he is herky-jerky with the dribble.”

Not only Shaq but even LeBron James had once answered on how to guard Steph Curry. “Same way you slow me down. You can’t,” said James when asked about the formula to guard Steph Curry.

Interestingly, when the Warriors took on the Sacramento Kings in the first round of the playoffs, Big Shaq admitted that Steph is a better player than him. “Yeah, you’re right”, said Shaq when Charles Barkley mentioned that the Warriors superstar is a better player than the 7-foot-1 inches tall NBA legend.

De’Aaron Fox admitted that guarding Curry is tough

Prior to the start of the NBA playoffs, a video clip of 2016 NBA champion JR Smith was doing the rounds of the internet. In the clip, he mentions that one of the Cleveland Cavaliers players almost ‘died’ guarding the Baby-Faced Assassin.

During one of the press conferences, Kings star De’Aaron Fox said, “Ya’ll see that clip of JR Smith talking about Delly? That sh*t is real.” Fox and the Kings got a first-hand experience of Steph’s ruthlessness. The 2022 Finals MVP dropped a career-high 50 points in game 7 to knock the Kings out of the playoffs.
