From 1985 to 2005, former professional boxer Mike Tyson took the world of boxing by storm and gave it a competition that went beyond traditional matches. It appears that he is beginning a new journey, but this time he will be facing one of the greatest basketball players of all time, Michael Jordan. 

And both sporting greats are extremely competitive individuals when you consider their journey to becoming sports legends. Despite backing out of a physical brawl with Jordan, Tyson anticipates a different battle with the NBA legend.

There was a moment in 1988 that caused a beef between the two legends during a birthday party. Rory Holloway, the former manager of Tyson, explained the situation. The party was for Richard Dent, a former football player that is known for his time with the Chicago Bears.

In between the events, Tyson’s then-wife Robin Givens, who allegedly once dated Michael Jordan, was discussed. He explained that the conversation got into a situation that was difficult to resolve, but in the end, nothing occurred between the two.

And now it seems Tyson is ready to give Jordan a run for his money in the sneaker industry. As of yet, he has not spoken directly about his own sneaker line, but he has given hints about it. 

Is Mike Tyson working on a sneaker line that can compete with Michael Jordan’s? 

According to an interview with Complex, he has grown more fond of shoes over the years. 

According to him, he has invested a good deal of money in this industry over the years. He was also interested in making money through his sneaker ideas during that time, but his main focus was boxing.  

When he discussed the brand deals and shared his thoughts, it was clear he was interested. “I was interested in making my own sneaker. Some people wanted me to have my own sneaker, but I was moving too fast. I couldn’t take care of that stuff”. 

Tyson said that at the time he was making the money he needed from his boxing career. Tyson reportedly earned $30 million per fight at the height of his career. In 1995, he was ranked second among the highest-paid athletes, earning $40 million, according to Forbes.

Mike Tyson added, “I had my money, I didn’t need no deals”.
