The 2025-26 season has been a rough one for the Golden State Warriors. The team has played an inconsistent brand of basketball due to injuries keeping stars, like Stephen Curry and Kristaps Porzingis, as well as role players, out of the lineup. Now, though not Steph, the team is getting an update on another elite shooter: Seth Curry.
“I know he’s been part of a couple of scrimmages, but he won’t play tonight,” head coach Steve Kerr told the media ahead of the Warriors’ game against the Oklahoma City Thunder tonight. “I think there’s hope that he’ll play, you know, either against Utah or Chicago. But we’ll have to see how he responds the next couple of days.”

The Warriors are set to play the Utah Jazz on Monday and the Chicago Bulls on Tuesday, on the second night of the blackout. Curry has been dealing with sciatic nerve irritation, currently listed as “questionable” for the game against the Jazz.
The veteran sharpshooter‘s season has been disrupted by injury. After being signed and waived during training camp due to salary-cap problems, Curry was brought back in December to play a bench role for a team lacking depth.
However, Curry has played just two games this season, sidelined by a sciatica flare-up for over three months. In his appearances, he’s averaged 7 points, 2 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game, shooting 50% from beyond the arc.
With Curry being brought in midseason to help answer some of the team’s offensive inconsistencies, the team could definitely use him, considering the multitude of injuries they’ve had to deal with.
Warriors Young Players Stepping Up As Injuries Pile On
The Golden State Warriors‘ turbulent season doesn’t end with two games played for Seth Curry. His brother, Stephen, has missed 13 consecutive games as of today, raising an important question about when he can return.

He’s currently scheduled for reevaluation in a few days, and in his absence, the team has gone 5-7. To make things worse, the team has also seen center Kristaps Porzingis take the floor for them only a few times. The trade deadline acquisition has played just one game for them and is currently sitting out due to an illness flare-up.
In the absence of key stars, though, the Warriors have seen breakout performances from several players. Most impressive is the play of Brazilian forward Gui Santos, who has averaged 14.3 points, 5.7 rebounds, 3.8 assists, and 1.6 steals. That play had led to him signing a three-year, $15 million extension with the team.
Another key contributor is Brandin Podziemski, who has stepped up on offense. Over the last six games, he has averaged 18.3 points, 10.2 rebounds, and 4.7 assists to help stabilize the offense without their superstar, Stephen Curry.
For now, the team can only hope the two sharpshooters return as soon as possible, especially as they aim to secure a play-in tournament spot.
